Florida Keys Fishing Guide
A native to the Florida Keys and Iraq war veteran, Captain Nate Wheeler is a very personable and energetic guide with an extreme passion for all types of fishing. Outside of a four year enlistment in the United States Air Force, Captain Nate has lived his entire life in the Florida Keys, fishing and diving all throughout the entire island chain.
Extremely dedicated and hard working, Captain Nate devotes great time to help make every Florida Keys Fishing fishing guide trip an exciting adventure! Fishing both inshore aboard a 16ft Hewes Bonefisher Flats boat, and offshore aboard a 25ft Sea Vee center console, Captain Nate is a skilled local captain ready to fish!
Florida Keys Offshore Fishing
The Lower Keys has some of the most unique offshore fishing in the entire world.
Where many locations require long distance runs to get to the fishing grounds, great fishing starts 10 minutes from the dock! Under the right conditions, anything from Blue Marlin to Great White Sharks have been spotted off the reef, less than 10 miles from shore!
Specializing in live bait fishing, Captain Nate and the Waypoint fishing crew work very hard to capitalize on every opportunity. Although fishing changes just as fast as the weather, primary targeted species include Sailfish, Cobia, Dolphin, Tuna, and Wahoo.
Florida Keys Reef and Wreck Fishing
Providing world's 3rd largest barrier reef and dozens of wrecks scattered throughout the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico makes the Florida Keys a truly phenomenal place to fish. Hundreds of species make refuge in these habitats including Grouper, Snapper, Cobia, Amberjacks, Kingfish and many many more. Generally reef and wreck fishing is your best bet to guarantee something on the dinner table.
Florida Keys Inshore Flats and Tarpon Fishing
If battling hard fighting fish without having to battle the high seas, then tarpon/flats fishing is your game. There are not too many fish that combine power, speed, and the acrobatic ability that a tarpon does. The Florida Keys are one of the best destinations in the world to tangle with these ancient relics from the past. Their willingness to eat a fly makes them that much better.
Stalking "tailing" Bonefish and Permit in the super shallow water is one of the most addictive pursuits in the industry. Other great targeted species include Snook, Redfish, Seatrout, Snappers, Jacks, Sharks and Barracudas.
