Guadalupe River Texas Fly Fishing Guide for Trout and Bass

Guadalupe River Fly Fishing

The Guadalupe River is a cold water river that empties out from the bottom of Canyon Lake and makes an ideal habitat for trout. The state of Texas created a regulatory trout zone approximately 15 miles in length starting at Canyon Dam. Special state rules and regulations do apply in this area. It is the southernmost trout fishery in the United States and the only one in Texas that supports trout year-round. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and other organizations stock thousands of trout annually. Trout fishing is best from November through the end of March. Additionally, there are other species of fish to enjoy during the warmer months like, bass, catfish, & bluegill.

Guadalupe River Fly Fishing Guide Chris Jackson, Lead Guide:

Fishing experience from the Pacific to the Atlantic, as well as Belize. I'm a full time fishing guide and owner of Action Angler & Outdoor Center on the Guadalupe River. My fly shop opened in May of 2002. I have over 30 years of fly fishing experience, which started on stock ponds in north east Texas. I caught my first trout on the fly in Colorado at age 12 while hiking the headwaters of the Rio Grande' I continue to fish Colorado at least once a year, and have fishing experience in numerous waters stretching from California to Maine and all the way down to Key West. I'm always looking to share my experience with other anglers looking for fly fishing Texas hill country.
