Charelston Fishing Guide, Fly Fishing for Redfish, Trout and Flounder.
Charelston Fly Fishing and Light Tackle Fishing Charleston is known for some of the best year round inshore fishing on the east coast. Miles spartina grass, mud flats, oyster beds, and large estuaries offer anglers some of the best light tackle and fly fishing found anywhere. If stalking trophy redfish in shallow water is your idea of exciting fishing, then come see what the low country has to offer anglers year round. Redfish can be seen on the mud flats at low tides in large schools, or groups of tailing fish on floodtides in the spartina grass or flats feeding on crabs, shrimp, and small bait fish. Speckled Trout, black drum and flounder also can be caught in these areas. Charelston Fishing Guide
Captain Chris Wilson is a Charleston native and has been fishing these waters all his life. He has been a full time Charleston fishing guide for 10 years and is very knowledgeable about the waters around the low country and safety. Prior to becoming a fishing guide, he was a full time mate; fishing offshore on charter and private boats up and down the east coast and all through the Caribbean, chasing billfish and all other pelagic species. Fishing has been a passion of Capt. Chris for over 25 years. His love for the sport, as well as respect for the estuaries he fishes, grows each day spent on the waters. Charelston Fly Fishing and Light Tackle Fishing Seasons In the spring and summer months, the water starts to warm up and a variety of inshore species start to move into the harbor, inlets, and beaches such as speckle trout, lady fish, Spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, cobia, tarpon, variety sharks, and big bull redfish. In the flats, small groups of red fish are still found at low water tides. This is the beginning of prime season for tailing fish at flood tides. This is a great time for the novice fly fisherman to try his skill at catching his first red fish on fly, whether by wading or by boat. In the fall and winter months, it is still a good time to seek out the tailing red fish on flood tides. Water temperatures begin to cool, and the shrimp and bait fish start to move out of the flats and creeks. The red fish and speckle trout bite really turn on. As the water cools and clears, large groups of redfish school up on the mud flats, .with as many as 200 plus fish in a foot or less of water. This is sight fishing at its best. These fish can be taken on fly or spin. Speckle trout action is great this time of year with schools of fish being caught on waterways, inlets, and creeks EQUIPMENT AND TACKLE
