Desroches Island Seychelles Fly Fishing
 Located in the Indian Ocean, Desroches Island is the biggest of the Almirante Archipelago, a group of islands and atolls formed of coral that are part of the external group of islands of the Seychelles archipelago. Located 230 km south-west of Mahé, the Almirante islands are linked to Mahé by a 40-minute flight. The 4, 8 km-long coral atoll is surrounded by turquoise waters and can be reached by private charter flights.
Desroches is a small coastal paradise excellent for scuba diving and sport fishing. To get to the Seychelles from South America, there are flights leaving from Brazil and Argentina to Johannesburg and from there to Mahé. From Europe, there are direct flights to Mahe from Paris.
 The atolls offer excellent sport fishing, but it all depends on the tides. Big schools of Bonefish are found in the flats. There is also plenty of permit, which are usually caught by wading, GT (Giant Trevally) weighing up to 100 pounds, large Barracudas, Sharks, Snappers and many other species. Deep sea fishing is also very exciting; it can be done with a fly fishing or a conventional tackle to fish Sailfish, Marlin, Wahoo, Bluefin, GT, Dorados, etc.
The fishing area covers the Desroches Island and other atolls (Remiere, Poivre, Saint Joseph and African Banks Atolls). Our operation offers 6 Mitzky skiffs fully-equipped for fly fishing, well-qualified guides and a 48-foot yacht with 2 engines of 450 HP fit for fly fishing, two rooms, air conditioning and all the comforts for a perfect trip to the atolls. The best months for fishing are from October through April.

All Seychelles fly fishing packages are flexible, with a minimum of 3-night accommodation. However, we recommend a 7-night accommodation and 6 fishing days. It includes: meet & greet at Mahe, air flight Mahe/Desroches/Mahe, accommodation in one of the 5-star villas assigned to the operation with 4 double en-suite rooms, with air conditioning, a finely decorated living room and dining room, kitchen and private swimming pool. 3 daily meals and drinks are included. There are different fishing programs depending on the tides and weather conditions, the likes of the clients and the organizational availability.

Rods: # 8 for Bonefish and variety; # 10 - # 12 and #14 WT for Permit, GT, Marlin, Bluefin, Sailfish, etc.
Reels: for saltwater and a good brake system, 20 pound test backing for line #8 and 30 pound test for lines # 10-#12 and # 14.
Lines: for saltwater and tropical weather for rod #8 Wt, WF floating line; for rod # 10 Wt, WF floating line and 300-350 grain sinking line; for rod #12 Wt and #14 Wt, 400-600 grain sinking line.
Leaders: 9 feet and 20 pounds of fluorocarbon or monofilament tapered leaders. Fluorocarbon spools of 15, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 pounds.

 Due to its proximity to the Equator, the sun rises and 6.15 am and sets at 18.30 pm, so there are 12 hours of daylight approximately. The temperature is not usually over 30°C and the tourist season runs from October through April. We suggest packing a shirt and long trousers for wading, neoprene boots, a cap and bandanas, and sun gloves if possible. There is laundry service available at the villa. We recommend bringing a waterproof jacket, polarized sunglasses, sun block, clippers, hook sharpener, line conditioning, stripping fingers, fluorocarbon spools, waterproof camera (if possible), insect repellent, basic medicine (antibiotics, ibuprofen or similar, anti diarrhea), etc.
