Guanaja Bay Islands Honduras Fishing Resort offering fishing for Bone Fish, Tarpon, Jacks, Permit, as well as Deep Sea Fishing.
Guanaja Bay Islands Honduras Fishing Resort
Set in the picturesque Islas de la Bahia (Bay Islands) of Honduras, Graham's Place is a small private cay, owned and operated by Mr. Graham Thompson. It is located 1.5 miles south of the mainland of Guanaja, and can be reached only by boat. It is a beautiful charming little resort, 8 acres (to be exact) of sandy white beaches, and tropical foliage surrounded by the crystal clear Caribbean Sea.
As you arrive at the resort and disembark from the water taxi, the first site you will see is the natural aquarium that is right beside the dock. The aquarium is home to a variety of marine life including Green Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles, Loggerhead Turtles, Nurse Sharks, Grouper, Barracuda, Puffer Fish, lobster and conch.
Mr. Graham also developed a turtle crawl where the turtles can nest and lay their eggs. He has had a number of his turtles lay eggs and once they have hatched the young turtles were released into the Caribbean Sea. This crawl is the first known place that the Hawksbill Turtles have mated and laid eggs in captivity. The three types of turtles that are in the crawl are Green, Hawksbill and Loggerhead. Ask Mr. Graham for more information on the turtles
and the breeding program.
Bonefishing Guanaja Fishing Resort
Guanaja is a diverse Caribbean fishery surrounded by sand, turtle grass and coral flats which makes for some of the best Bone Fishing in the region. Schools of 10-200 fish are often seen and catches can be as large as 10 pounds. Guanaja is also one of the few Permit fisheries in the world and we see on average 10-40 Permit a day so there are plenty of chances to catch one. They range from juvenile fish to fully grown fish which are over 30 pounds.
For those who travel around in your own vessel, we have permanent moorings where you can enjoy the crystal clear calm waters and cool breeze. You will have access to fresh water and our laundry facilities.
Just off the resort there are several miles of shallow flats perfect for wading. Fishermen stand in the water for hours fishing for Bone Fish, Tarpon, Jacks, Permit and many other species of fish. Arrangements can also be made for deep sea fishing trips.
Bay Islands Honduras Resort Activities
As well as being a prime fishing destination, Guanaja is rated as one of the world's top dive destinations. Mr. Graham sunk an old ship just off his cay for divers to enjoy. He can arrange for the rental of dive gear and for dive trips. Other activities include:
If fishing is not your thing, not to worry, you can enjoy the white sandy beach or just relax in one of the many hammocks hung under the trees. There is also kayaking, swimming, snorkeling or you can take a stroll through the tropical foliage on the nature trail Mr. Graham has made. While on the trail be sure and keep a look out for some of Mr. Graham's animals roaming around like the aguti rabbit scurrying through the bushes or you may catch a glimpse of an iguana sunning himself. Whenever you feel like going to land, come ashore and enjoy our beach, bar and restaurant.
