Our first class South Andros fishing guides will take you to the best spots and hone your technique if you wish it.
South Andros Island Bahamas Deep Sea Fishing
South Andros offers you some of the best deep sea fishing in the Caribbean and probably in the world. The Tongue of the Ocean is a mile deep canyon which lies just one mile offshore.
Tiamo has its own fully equipped 28ft World Cat Boat, 33ft Pro Line Boat which makes blue water fishing fun and easily accessible from the resort.
The large area of waters surrounding the resort is not commercially fished and sees few fishermen. This means there are plentiful supplies of wahoo, innumerable varieties of snapper and grouper, Mahi Mahi caught on both fly and bait and several species of Tuna to name but a few.
Eating what you catch is the Tiamo principle so fish caught are then freshly prepared by one of our talented chefs and served in the restaurant the same day.
Blue water fishing trips can range from regular 'fun fishing trips,' to the reef less than three miles away using deep drop electric reels to full days Blue water fishing in the Tongue of the Ocean, where among many other species, marlin and sailfish are regularly seen.
Reef Fishing: Yellow tail, Red, Grey and Mutton Snapper. Nassau and Strawberry Grouper, Triggerfish, Grunts, Barracuda, Jacks and Porgy. The lobster season is open from August 1st to March 31st. Deep Sea Fishing: Wahoo, Yellow and Blackfin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi (Dorado), Kingfish, Albacore.
And of course, at Tiamo we take protecting our marine environment as seriously as our above-ground efforts, so we endorse a catch-and-release policy and the use of barbless flies only.
South Andros Island Bahamas Bonefishing
Andros is known as the bonefishing capital of the world and Tiamo is situated right in the heart of it. Much of the area is a National Nature reserve which gives incredible access to untapped fishing.
Our experienced guides fish a vast area of Andros Island in the interest of providing you with the best fishing opportunities. You may fish the waters of the South Bight, all the way to the incredible picturesque and wade friendly waters around "Water Cay' where shoals of bonefish over a hundred yards across are often seen. Or you may head North to the fabled ' "Land of the Giants" where some of the largest bonefish can be found.
Tiamo fishing gives you immediate access to uncountable flats and undisturbed tidal creeks. Bonefish tend to be the primary target but there are several areas on the West Side with resident Tarpon. Permit appear when least expected and for excitement on a slow day, barracuda, snapper and sharks can all be caught on fly.
If you are bonefishing for the first time then guided half days are possible. Or for the greatest challenge, set out wading or kayaking from the resort and see if you can first spot and then catch the 'ghost of the flats' by yourself.
For the serious fisherman and his or her non fishing partner, Tiamo resorts offers unparalleled luxury: from heavenly rooms and service to fine dining, relaxation (Tiamo Spa), amazing water based activities and, of course, world class bonefishing.
With just 10 villas and one luxury villa for friends or family, Tiamo is an exclusive retreat, a place where you really can get away from it all. All 10 properties exude great charm. Built in a traditional Caribbean style, each one is surrounded by lush green palm trees and has direct access to the white-sand beach. Designed with minimalist eco-chic in mind, the subtle natural color schemes and luxury white fabrics provide a calm, cool space to unwind in, while the private verandas are the perfect spot to sit back on and take in the vista. 6 villas have private pool and terrace.
Once you step out of your beach cottage in the morning you'll find everything you need to enjoy your vacation in comfort and style, right on the water. Start your day by heading to the Great Room for a healthy breakfast, before strolling down to the beach, or settling down on a soft sun lounger by the inviting pool.
