Fishing Report September,30 2002-

San Juan Anglers-Fishing update September 29 2002
Morning midge hatches have been excellent from the Dam to texas hole.Drops and shallow fast water have been fishing extreamly well.Texas hole to gravel pit take out.The afternoon baetis hatches are coming off in sheets on the cloudy days.Fishing has been Excellent the last few days,Lots of fish in the Net.October and November on the San JUan are two of the very best months to be on the river.


San Juan Anglers-guided fishing report-April 2-April-April-8-flow-600cfs and clear.Hatches-midges and baetis.Fishing was excellent this week in the both the upper and lower sections of the quality water. The Midge hatch in the mornings Have been coming off in good numbers,making for good action untill about lunch time, when the hatch starts to taper off.Both wade and float trips in the mornings have been very productive this week.The afternoons on the lower sections of the quality water have been seeing good numbers of spring Baetis and the fish are really on the fly ,making for some of the best fishing of the year to date.San Juan Anglers guides have no less than five years experience guiding year-round on the San Juan River.Jon Schwarz San Juan Anglers Head guide Has been guiding year round on the San Juan for the last 10 years.WE specialize in sight fishing Dry flies and emergers.

14 day forecast-fishing is excellent right now and will stay that way through april and into may.The spring hatches are in full swing and should continue into may.Colorado is at 40% of normal snow pact.High flows in late may look like there not going to be more 700 to 1000cfs.Email San Juan Anglers with any questions you may have.Tightlines Jon

San Juan Anglers-fishing report,March 23-25,2002
flow-500cfs- water clarity-clear 5ft to 8ft.Hatches-midges&Baetis
Fishing has been very good this week.The midge hatch in the afternoons has the fish looking up.The Baetis hatches are good and getting better.We have had good dry fly fishing on the partly cloudy days.The fish are really keying on midge larva and pupa.The sight fishing has been very good and getting better upper river is starting to really turn on.good baetis hatch below texas hole in the afternoons.

March fishing report 2002.The spring Baetis hatch is in full swing and the midge hatches are thick,making for some of the best fishing of the year.guided Wade and float trips have both reported good hatches and several fish being landed in the 15 to 20 inch range.The weather has been a little unpredictable so make sure you bring the cold weather clothing just in case and the sun block.Spring is a great season on the San Juan and Animas rivers.Big hatches and great fishing.email us with any questions or to request Fishing infomation.Tightlines -SAn Juan Anglers


February 27,2002-fishing report-flow rate500cfs
The fishing this winter has been very good so far.The weather has been very mild in February,highs in the 40's and 50's and 60's.Dam to texas hole,good midge hatchs from 8:30am till
2pm.Still seeing some blue wing olives on the overcast days.January and February 2002 produced some good winter dry fly fishing.Texas hole to gravel pit take out has been fishing good from the boat.flies-dam to texas hole-thread body midge larva.cream,red,choc #20-24,KF's 20-26,black,choc.red hots 18-22 SJW-various colors.Midge clusters 20-26,Parachute midges 22-26,Bwo-22,flies-Texas hole to gravel pit-bunny leaches,natural,olive,midge larva-cream,red,#18-22,Red hots-18-22,Disco midges 18-24,Buggers (dead drifted).The winter fishing has been very productive.Winter is a great time to visit the San Juan,No crowds,good fishing and good winter fishing rates.Hope to see you soon!


San Juan Anglers fishing report January 9 2002.river flow rate 500cfs-fishing rating-good.

The river is looking better this week,a bit more clear.The weather has been very mild so far this winter.The fishing from the dam to texas hole this week was very productive.The guides are reporting a handful of 20inch+ rainbows being landed and several in the 15-18 inch range.The midge hatch in the mornings has been coming off in good numbers and on the overcast days a few BWO'S.Flies disco midge 20-24,Red&cream midge larva 18-24
,SJW, various colors, KF's black,choc 20-24,parachute adams 20-22,Midge cluster 18-24.The crowds are gone!Be sure to ask about our winter rates. js-San Juan Anglers

San Juan Anglers fishing report December 30, 2001-River flow rate 500cfs.water temp-38-44.water clarity- 2ft off color.Fishing rating-good

Hatches-Midges

The dam is turning over and the water is off color.Visability is about 2ft.The fishing on the 27and 28,was very productive from the dam to gravel pit. The weather so far this winter has been fairly mild 35 -50 in the afternoons.December had excellent midge hatches and on the overcast days we even saw good numbers of blue winged olives.Good dry fly fishing late in the year is always nice.The crowds are gone!The fishing is still good!Don't worry about the water clarity.The fly selection changes a bit, but leave that to us.JAnuary and February are both good months for a visit to the San Juan.We are running our winter rates untill the end of February.flies-orange,Red midge larva 18-22,desert storm 18-22, flashback PT's 20,22,24,SJW-various colors. .JS-San Juan Anglers
