Predator Sportfishing Barbados
The Wahoo have arrived
Well October is here and we are starting to see good numbers of Wahoo along the ledges and banks where we target them. We are very lucky in Barbados that our deep water is close to shore and we don’t have to travel far to find fish. In fact we generally have lines in the water just ten minutes after leaving the dock. We are still experiencing nice calm summer weather and the season is shaping up to be an exciting one.
We’ve just installed Tuna tubes on the boat, and we are very excited about this. This means that we can now use live bait when the fish have lockjaw and are reluctant to take trolled bait. This also gives us an unequaled edge over the other boats, most of which just drag baits around all day. The live bait we use is generally one to three pound Tuna, and some clients have so much fun catching these (two or three at a time) that it surprises them that its just the bait.
The fish we’ve been getting are averaging twenty-five or so pounds; I’m sure later in the season we’ll see some bigger fish. I’ve not had the camera out recently so have no pics to post but will try to get some on here some soon.
