WWFG Fishing Reports

Nikao Fishing Adventures took some guests out on Lake Jozini (Pongolapoort Dam) for a morning of Tiger Fishing on Drop Shot lures. We stayed at Umziki Chalets, which is a lovely self catering facility.

It was a stunning morning with very little wind and the water surface temperature was around 23 deg. C. We launched at Nkonkoni 06h00 and headed straight to the gorge, which is a place of magnificent beauty to find Tiger Fish.

We managed to land 4 Tiger Fish on drop shot here in 6m (20ft) â€“ 8m (26ft) and all were larger sized fish, so quality made up for quantity. The fish were biting on the lures retrieved deep and slow. All the fish where released.

We went out again later in the afternoon and the NE wind picked up to gale force speeds generating large waves and making fishing very difficult and uncomfortable and we decided to call it a day and made a very wet trip back to base.
