This little bugger has produced some huge fish and lots of them in the past 3 weeks or so . With all the the small hatches 18 to 23's going on , BWO"S Pmd's etc most specifically, this fly has really turned good days into fantastic days . I was fishing with a client a week or so ago and we were doing pretty good with small nymphs when a PMD hatch came off . Put on a PMD about a 18 and they just weren't interested , trailed it with a 20 Griffiths Knat and in the next half hour I got 10, two well over 20 inches all on the Knat . My client couldn't believe it , he said that he never saw anything like that in his life . He likes me to fish when I'm with him , he says that he can learn more if he watches . I went to this same river 3 days ago by myself and bang it happened again , I got 27 and at least 20 were on the Knat .
So if I were you I would put this in your fly box and the next time you have a hatch coming off try the Knat, you will be surprised .
My client emailed me the other day and he told me that he was tying up a bunch of Griffiths Knats . People forget that the old patterns really work and get to caught up in the match the hatch .
