Greetings all from St. Thomas, don't know where the summer has gone but Marlin don't seem to care. If you didn't read about the Annual Boyscout Tournament early Aug over the fullmoon there were 159 Releases and we are proud to say our son Ryan crewing on the winning boat, Revenge. A BIG CONGRATS TO THEM, WELL DESERVED!!
Bluefin didn't fish the tournament however the week prior to the fullmoon a couple days during and after the moon we caught our marlin. We have had quite a few young adults and family's fishing, which is good!! The moto is "Fishing, make time for it!"
Doing our 1/2days and with Fullday and/or marlin trips we have also been catching some blackfin tuna's, few mahi and always baraccuda & bonito on inshore trips.
The Sept & Oct fullmoons will stay consistent as the Sept.fullmoon (4th) already has! On the 27th. there were 21 releases, the 28th. 20 releases and 29th. 35 releases however with more boats fishing of course, once the action started. These are mostly private boats who will continue to fish through Oct or head back to the states or possibly elsewhere and...assuming the weather holds out as well. (Read about: abmt.vi)
The North Drop has plenty of room for everybody and a trip out there is sometimes "being in the right place at the right time!!" if you aren't out there on a regular basis like the Big Boys. One of the original Charter Captains over the years always says, "The marlin are always there" and that certainly holds true.
There might just be one out there waiting for you.
If you are still able to make a visit and need a place to stay close by let us know. Email us or give us a call at 340-998-6721 or 340-775-6691. Yours in Sport!! BLUEFIN II -Capt. Don, Mrs. Cap & Crew. |
