One of the challenges of this business is the rapidness of change. This year is no exception. Some of the key players in our industry have either retired from the business or been forced from the business. The faces change, but the challenge remains – to offer our clients the very best fishing experience possible for Amazon Peacock Bass and other exotic species. To that end, we are in the process of making adjustments to our operations to better serve our clients.
First, we have negotiated a contract with the Santana fleet of fishing yachts to be their exclusive representative in North America (including the United States, Mexico and Canada). We will be offering some of the best trips available, and we will continue to utilize the fine staff that has been assembled for the Santana over the past several years. The guides have had many years of experience on the rivers we fish, and they have the reputation of being the best guide staff in the Amazon. They will be joined by Harry who has served as host on the Santana trips for as long as some can remember. Add to that staff, our own Camp Manager and a resident nurse to care for any health problems, and you will see that none can compare to the service you will receive on our Belle of the Amazon yacht.
Second, we are going to offer a low-cost alternative for trips to the Amazon to fish for Peacock Bass. With the same features as the more luxurious Belle trip, this option will begin and end in Manaus aboard the Santana I. We will be fishing rivers that we have been overlooked by the major operators. We can travel long distances if necessary to be in good fishing, and we will have an opportunity for those who wish to visit a native community.
Third, we are sponsoring trips on our Amazon Fishing Exploratory Boat. We will research rivers that have had very limited fishing pressure in an attempt to locate the next “Big Fish River of the Amazon.” These trips will not be luxury trips – you will sleep in hammocks and fish from small boats, but the food will be good and the friendships will be lasting. And with any success, we will locate some great fishing.
