Jun 14: The great weather is over for now! On Tuesday, the wind kicked up again and turned the bays upside down. It made for some tough fishing. Friday I had some folks from the lodge and we headed for the river. I kept them busy all day catching everything but keeper trout. We even hit a few sharks on live shrimp. Saturday, we tried the bay again, but once again, with little success. Luckily, Saturday night, I had Mr. Cantu and his son and granddaughter out for some gigging. We headed to the South shoreline. We had 25 flatties and were in by midnight. By the looks of the cleaning table, wading the shorelines has been the ticket lately due to the wind and dirty water. We should see the wind lay this week and drifting the bays should get better. I have a couple of openings during the next week if anyone is interested in doing some wading. Bring your other half to wade and you won’t be sorry (unless there’s lots of sharks)!
Jun 7: The Oilman’s Tournament is over and what an excellent weekend it was! I had good friend Richard Russell down for some offshore and bay fishing. Friday, despite the small craft warning, we eased offshore for a food run. After a long and bumpy ride, we reached our spot. We boxed a handful of snapper, a grouper, a king, a lane snapper, and some redfish for the day. Saturday, they decided to head for the bay. We loaded up and headed East for some drifting. The conditions were great and we boxed a couple of handfuls of trout and sand trout. All and all, things were great and the guys went back to Dallas with a ice chest full of fish for the freezer. They enjoyed the weekend and will be returning for the 2010 year.
The weather continues to be nice and I have openings, so give me a call and let’s go fishing.
