I was out on the water a few times this Memorial Day weekend. The blitzes have slowed down, but there are some big fish out there to be caught. I was out early this morning for a few hours before heading to the NCAA lacrosse finals at Gillette. It was a very low tide due to the full moon but I head into one of my most reliable spots. The tide was just beginning to rise as we got out there and we were fishing in about six feet of water. We were spooking a few fish on the surface during our drift and hooked a nice striper on one of my first casts. But the fish of the morning came as we drifted past some structure. The fish hit my fly and took off about 50 yards into my backing before I gained any line back. I landed the 40” striper and after getting a few good shots, released it back. It was a terrific fish and it has been amazing to see the numbers of big fish out there with early!!
The second wave of fish should be making their way through the harbor very soon. I expect the harbor to be full of blitzing fish once again in the next week. If you can’t find any fish on the surface, find some structure and you are bound to find the fish! Book your charter today!
Tight lines,
Capt. Webb
