On january 5th what a beautiful day6 today, light winds, but quite a large ground swell running, we caught a Wahoo 25# and 3 small Mackerel, then went over to Challenger Banks and as conditions looked right, started to drift fiah, and within 20 minutes the Tunas to bite, what a joy, the total after about 3 hours was 11 Yellowfin'ws 25/35# 2 Blackfin's 20# 1 Monkey Rockfish 12# taken on a Butterfly jig off the bottom, Kevin also caught 1 of the Blackfin Tunas on the jig.
What a joy it was to finaslly have a great catch of Yellowfin's, as they have been very scarce for the past couple of seasons.
Back out again on the 6th this time we had to anchor as the conditions had changed overnight, and producing 10 Yellowfin's 25/32# 2 Wahoo35/40#, plus 1 Amber Jack and 4 Almaco jqcks also caught on the jig off the bottom.
On the 11th Kevin, Danny and Richard along with a party from the Bank of N.Y. aboard caught 25 Yellowfins 25/35# 2 Wahoo 60/70# 5 Almaco Jacks, 2 Rainbow Runners and released a small Whit Marlin about 40# which bit a bait dangling off the Kite, plus a Dusky Shark about 100/120#
A 1/2 day Charter with the Homeowners Choice Insurance group aboard, caught 5 Nice Wahoo from 30/50#
Kevin, Danny and Bobby were out again on the 19th resulting in 8 Wahoo's 35/40# 5 Yellowfin's 25/30# 1 Blackfin 22# 7 Almaco Jacks and 1 Monkey Rockfish 10#
Craig McIntyre and Alex Anderson went out with Kevin and Danny and caught 5 Wahoo 35/55# and 3 Almaco Jacks, the Tunas were not cooperating today.
Kevin, Danny and Bobby ventured out again on the 26th catching 3 Blqackfin's, 1 Wahoo a tiny 12# 1 Monkey Rockfish 13# 10 Amber Jacks 5/8# 15 Almaco Jqcks and a Rainbow Runner.
On Wednesday 28thj Kevin, Danny and Keith with Dqnny's 2 sons Paul and Kevin along with their cousin Jason caught 2 Yellowfin's 25/35# 4 Mackerel, 4 Wqahoo the biggest was 68# caught by Jason, 1 Monkey Rockfish 15# 6 Coney's, 7 Barbers, 4 Almqco Jacks, and 5 Turbots or Trigger fish.
And then a cold front camem through, ending fishing until February 2nd.
