Dear fellow angler

Our salmon season in Iceland has begun. Blanda opened at the beguinning of the month with slower fishing than in recent years. We moved the openings of Midfjardara, Vididalsá and Laxá á Ásum back few days so Midfjardara will open this afternoon, Vididalsá on Sunday and Ásum at the end of the month. I just spoke to one of our guide and he saw few salmon in Midfjardara this morning which he was going after this afternoon, I will write about the fishing there tomorrow. East and West Ranga open next week, so we are in full swing.

We will report the fishing on our web-site www.lax-a.is like previous years.

If you still have not planned your fishing for the summer you should contact us for vacancies as we sometimes get last minute cancelations. Here below you get ideas of what is available in Iceland this summer but note that we have about 20 salmon rivers to offer you, see here: http://www.lax-a.is/iceland/

Blanda river is one of the finest salmon river in Iceland. In July there are 8 rods sold on beat one and two and anglers are catching alot! We just opened a brand new fishing lodge by the river which is one of the best in Iceland. Blanda is a big river with big salmon.

Blanda availability:
July 29th to August 4th (noon - noon)

West Ranga is only in about 1 hours drive from Reykjavik. West Ranga is always one of the top salmon river in number of salmon caught each summer. There is a nice resently built lodge by the river.

West Ranga availability:
July 9th to 12th (noon - noon)
July 12th to 15th (noon – noon)
July 15th to 18th (noon – noon)

East Ranga has been number one of number of salmon caught in Iceland for few years now. Like West Ranga it is highly sought after and licenses do not get available there much.

East Ranga availability:
July 6th to 12th (noon - noon)
July 28th to August 3rd (noon – noon)

Midfjardara is our jewl. There are 10 rods that fish Midfjardara which offers over 110 km of fishing water. So each angler has over 10 km of fishing water to themselfs. The river is the fly fishermans dream, crystal clear seethrough water, perfect for riffling hitch.

Midfjardara availability:
July 15th to 21st (noon – noon)

Laxá á Ásum, needs no introduction. It is best known for never beeing available but now we have 2 rods open July 29th to August 1st (noon - noon). So now is the change to fish the world known river.

Arbót beat in Laxa in Adaldal, always gives a lot of trout and good change of salmon as well. The beat is exclusively to one rod, but the house which goes with it is one of a kind with 3 twin rooms, spacious kitchen, dining and sitting room and a large veranda surrounding the house. There is a hot pot on the veranda. Prime time in Arbot is from mid July

Arbot availability:
August 10th to 15th (noon - noon)
