Coiba Island
Coiba Island , with over 648,000 acres was established as a national park in the year of 1992. 147 species of birds are easily found throughout the islands. Marine fauna is probably the main attraction of Coiba.
Even though the atmosphere was somewhat cloudy; every once in a while the clouds would open up to unravel the beauty of the Panamanian continental divide. Passing over the mountain range that varies from very steep hills in a tropical low mountainous forest, to pre-mountainous dry forests, and last, the only tropical dry forests in Central America.
Due to the pristine nature of the island and its surrounding oceans, it was declared a National Park. Investigators, biologists, and enthusiasts book year round expeditions just to scuba Coiba. Another attraction is the sports fishing, catching Wahoo and Dorado is an everyday thing.
Pinas Bay
Piñas Bay is an ideal place for a well deserved rest. It is located on the Pacific Coast of Darien. According to local natives, its name comes from the exuberant wild pineapples found by its first settlers.
In Piñas Bay there are special areas for open sea sport fishing, where it is presently forbidden to fish, this place has the world fishing record in the world. There are other beaches near Piñas Bay such as Playa Blanca, La Trinchera and Playa Martin, all with white sands and crystalline waters. There are other towns nearby such as Jaqué, Guayabo and Cocalito.
Generally, the men fish and work in agriculture, while the women work in making handicrafts (textiles, necklaces, etc.) The town has basic installations such a medical center, a small school, a police station and a soccer field.Anyone who visits Piñas Bay, is welcomed by the local population for it is an honor for them to have visitors.
