Bozeman Fly Fishing Guide

Come experience all that Montana has to offer!

Bozeman Montana fly fishing guide, Rodney Campbell, a third generation Montana native, has been fishing Montana waters since 1964 and guiding in southwest Montana for the past 21+ years. He will use that experience and knowledge to find you the most fishable water and give you the best possible fishing trip. As a licensed outfitter, he is both professional and conscientious. Rodney is active in river conservation and promotes catch-and-release fishing.

Bozeman Fly Fishing

Drift boat or wade fish on the Yellowstone River, the Gallatin River, the Madison River , and the Jefferson River. All day trips are based out of Bozeman, Montana, which is centrally located for exceptional fishing. Four major airlines serve Bozeman's new air terminal.

Rodney has a wealth of knowledge about regional history and the area's wildlife which he looks forward to sharing with you. Winters, Rodney is a ski patroller at Bridger Bowl ski area and a nationally certified EMT (emergency medical technician). Your safety is a top concern.

Float Fishing Trips

Montana Fihsing TripsFloat comfortably in a McKenzie style drift boat. These stable boats are ideal for fishing on the Blue Ribbon Trout Streams of Montana.

Fly Fishing Instruction

Beginners are most welcome! Learn to enjoy fly fishing from a skilled and patient teacher. Rodney has helped many students catch fish while instructing at Orvis endorsed fly fishing schools.

Scenic Float Trips

Sit back in the comfortable seats of the drift boat and enjoy the spectacular scenery -- mountain peaks reaching over 11,000 feet and deer at the riverbanks!!

Canoe Trips

Travel the path of Lewis and Clark, gliding along in a modern, Kevlar/glass canoe. This was the mode of transportation of the first explorers of the region and is still an excellent way to get the whole river experience. A real treat!

The Rivers

The Yellowstone River

Montana Trout FishingThe Yellowstone River, Rodney's favorite, is the longest free flowing "wild" river in the continental United States. It flows some 670 miles with no dams. The float through the Paradise Valley is one of the most scenic in Montana. This river offers four fish species; native Yellowstone Cutthroat, native Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout.

The Missouri

This huge river fishes like a giant spring creek and has been the best fishing in Montana for the past several years, with rainbows being caught in the 3-4 pound range. It is best to spend two days fishing and one night in Wolf Creek while fishing the "Mighty MO". There are many nice places to stay near the river.

The Madison River

The world renowned Madison River is separated into two sections, the "Upper" and the "Lower", together totaling about 120 miles of excellent trout habitat. Each section fishes very differently, depending on the time of year. The Brown Trout fishing has been good the past few years.

The Gallatin River

The upper portion of this small river is a great wading stream with an abundant population of 12" Rainbow Trout. In the lower, floatable section we fish for Rainbows and big Browns. This is a classic, freestone trout stream.

Montana Fly Fishing GuideThe Jefferson River

This large river is best fished from the drift boat. Both spring and fall can be outrageous streamer fishing for large Brown Trout.

Other Rivers

Campbell's Guided Fishing Trips also services other areas of Montana including the Missouri, Big Hole Rivers and private access ranch water.
