Yucatan fly fishing guide Mahahual Costa Maya Mexico

Yucatan fly fishing guide Mahahual Costa Maya Mexico

Imagine an uncrowded Caribbean with enough bonefish, tarpon and permit to stock a mini ocean.  That place would be Mahahual Mexico! Imagine going to a Bone Fish Lodge where you can get an instructor who really knows what he's doing and who can speak english.

The Western Caribbean fly fishing school based in Mahahual (Costa Maya) Mexico is owned and run by Nick Denbow, designed as an introduction to the sport of fly fishing we hope to teach you how to cast, tie flies and catch fish all in one class!

The Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School is the first facility designed to cater for passengers arriving by cruise ships to Costa Maya. Having said that, all guests are welcome arriving by air, land or sea. Beginners and families are welcome as well as intermediate pupils wishing to further their knowledge and technique. Every guest will be sure to take away a sense of achievement through our qualified and experienced lesson plan and instructors.

The schools objective is to provide a detailed and educated insight into all aspects of fly fishing, all guests will be given the opportunity to tie their own fly and attempt to catch a fish with it! Small classes ensure a personal service, a beautiful restaurant as head quarters
and
the colourful Caribbean waters... what better setting to learn the gentle art of fly fishing? The

Western Caribbean fly fishing school offers two products, its casting school and guided Caribbean fishing in the ocean, bays and nearby
lagoons.

Costa Maya Mexico fly fishing Trips

We can only schedule a total of 4 fishermen a week - 2 to a boat.  We have 2 guides and 2 boats.  We can handle a spouse or friend accompanying and offer a few diversions, but they would be on their own for the most part.  It is always nice to have a private boat even though it's more expensive.  It sure is nice to have every shot at a bone being your shot, but it's also nice to share the trip with a good fishing buddy.  Someone needs to open the beers.

Mahahual fly fishing lodge

This is not a high dollar deal.  We will be staying in the Casitas - the locals housing area - of Mahahual - in a 4 unit housing building we own -1 1/2 blocks from Aroma.  You'll find this to be the main place for local activity.  The rooms are new, clean, good beds, air conditioning, refrigerator, small kitchen area, and come with a good hot fresh water shower.  As in all of Mexico - drink bottled water.  Each room has it's own 5 gallon commercial water tank.

I've spent years traveling to many different Fly Fishing Lodges where a trip cost  was $1,000.00 per day on the average.  If you figure the guide and boat at $350.00 per day - you'd be real surprised at what the lodging looked like for the $650.00 extra per day (not very pretty).  Food was average at best and most places you paid for all your drinks.  The rooms we have here are better than 80% I stayed in. Let me tell you I got mad at being treated this way and was motivated to  start this business with realistic costs.

We will have a continental style breakfast, sack lunches on the boat with your request of: water, soda, fruit juice, or beer on ice (or all of the above).  For dinner we will travel to different Beach Bar/Restaurants where the cost of dinner will be on you individually.  This way you get to enjoy all the great dining in the area and you can pick what you want to eat and drink with no worries.  There is everything from Fish Tacos to Lobster Diner or Beef Tenderloin.  On my past trips I did not enjoy being one of 4 guys sitting around the same old table eating boring food.  This way we'll be out enjoying the area and getting a great feel for what Costa Maya is all about and why it's so great.

To see if we have availability at Western Caribbean Fly Fishing for the week you are considering you'll have to contact us direct.
