Cozumel Fly Fishing Packages

Conzumel FishingLocated opposite Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya, Cozumel stands out as a tourist island. There is an international airport on the island and the access from the continent is very easy because a ferry service leaving from Playa del Carmen is offered every hour. The journey takes a bit more than half an hour. Cozumel island, rich in Mayan ruins and heritage, is a famous scuba-diving destination because of the transparency of its waters.

On the northern coast, which covers several kilometres, a number of salt-watered lagoons with mangrove swamps and flats are the home of countless bonefish whose big size raise your eyebrow. Bonefish fishing is very profitable all year round and it requires a good command of casting and, above all, precision. Permit are also usually found, and you may want to try fly fishing for Dolphin or Sailfish in April, May or June, with big chances of success.

Many lagoons and a great part of the coast allow wading to flyfish for bonefish. You can also catch small jacks, porgy and barracuda, apart from bonefish and permit.

Conzumel Fly FishingAlthough Cozumel is a very popular tourist destination, the area of the lagoons and flats cannot be reached by land. Therefore, Bonefish fishing is not subject to any pressure and catch-and-release behavior is required. There are few flyfishing guides who are well-qualified and work in a professional way. Fly fishing Cozumel lagoons and coast demands sight fishing; that is why a good level of casting and precision is needed to enjoy this exciting and challenging fishing.

The boat can be shared with up to 4 passengers. The rate includes the return transfer from the hotel to the marina, lunch and refreshments. The crew has a wide experience in this kind of fishing but they do not provide the flyfishing rods. They get everything ready to call the attention of the fish and place the boat at the necessary distance to be able to cast and hook.

As the island offers few well-qualified fishing guides, we recommend making the reservations well ahead of time, especially to travel in December, January, February, and March. For open-sea fishing, the most popular months are April, May and June, due to the abundance of fish, and our boat is wanted by many anglers. During the low season we suggest making the reservations 90 days before traveling. A deposit of the 50% of the full price is required when making the reservations, and the rest 30 days before starting the trip or when getting to your destination.
