Captain Shawn is a third generation Chesapeake Beach charter fishing boat captain at the. Born and raised in Chesapeake Beach, MD. Shawn grew up fishing on his grandfathers charterboat WHY NOT.

After graduating college Shawn spent two seasons as full-time captain of the 46' Dianna Lee. At the end of those two seasons the Dianna Lee was sold and Shawn purchased the Wound Tight as a project boat. The boat was trailored from the eastern shore of Virginia to Shawn's backyard in the spring of 2004. After two years of blood, sweat, and tears the Wound Tight hit the water.

Wound Tight is 40' sportfishing vessel powered by twin caterpillar engines. 20kt cruise, enclosed walk around cabin. Heated with full size head. Full electronics including color fish finder, 36 mile radar, and VHF radios. We use Penn and Shimano tackle.

Wound Tight Charters specializes in all types of Chesapeake Bay fishing. Our captains and crew are experienced and professional. Plan early our best dates go quickly.

April-May: This is the time to catch the rockfish of a lifetime. Rockfish of 50 inches can be caught during this spring trophy season.

May-June: Rockfish are still plentiful with school size fish of 18 to 30 inches. Black drum enter our regions at the end of May during their migration north and can be caught until mid June. Drum range from 30 to 90lbs.

June-July: Chumming and trolling for rockfish stays consistent through June and July. Hardhead (Croakers) are targeted in the evening and provide plenty of action for the whole family.

August: Bluefish start to enter the region in July averaging 3lbs. Limit catches of rockfish are being met. Bottom fishing for spot begins to pick up during the day and hardhead fishing at night remains active.

August-September: Trolling and chumming is hot at this time of year. Catch a little of everything on the troll including rockfish, bluefish, and Spanish mackeral.

September-October: Chumming is the most productive method for catching rockfish and blues during this period. Jigging for sea trout is popular at this time.

October, November, December: The big boys return in the fall. Rockfish caught trolling reach sizes of 50 inches if you missed out in the spring season. Here is your chance at a wall hanger!

BE PREPARED: Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Bring suntan lotion, hats, and sunglasses. No hard-heeled shoes.

DEPOSIT: A deposit of $150 is required. The deposit is non-refundable if not cancelled within 30 days of the charter.

TIPPING: Our boat, captain and mate are here to do EVERYTHING in their power to make your trip enjoyable. Tipping the mate is customary and should be based on your discretion. 15% and 20% is typical.
