Gods Lake Fishing Lodge Manitoba Canada

Gods Lake Fishing Lodge Manitoba Canada

Manitoba FishingSituated in the remote northeastern Manitoba, Gods Lake fishery is
famous for huge northern pike and large abundant lake trout, and some of the finest, most consistent large walleye fishing you will find anywhere in North America. Located at the north eastern end of the lake, Gods Lake Haven offers the finest and most sheltered fishing of the lake and some of the finest freshwater fishing available in Canada, which is world renowned.

Gods Lake Haven, our Gods Lake fishing lodge is located on a prime section of the lake where shallows meet main lake depths. Our guests won't have to spend all day running around in search of fish. Most of our Trophies are caught within a short boat ride of the lodge.

How good is our fishing? 100+ fish days are common. Walleyes typically run up to 28" with a few over 30". Hundreds of pike over 40" are caught every year. Lakers are usually in the 8-15 lb range with fish over 30 lbs in the mix. For a special bonus - take a day trip to Gods River and fish for Brook Trout that average 18-20" and top out at 30".

Gods Lake Fishing Lodge

Manitoba FishingThe setting of Gods Lake Haven is unique, situated at a former Hudson's Bay Company trading post, on a sheltered, scenic bay on Gods Lake. The Archives of Manitoba have records of the Hudson Bay Company's journal posts, correspondence books and accounting records dating from 1825 which give a glimpse of the day to day lives of those who settled almost 200 years ago. History is evident in various parts of the lodge where hand hewed beams span the ceiling and original log cabins are scattered about.

Great care is taken to preserve the original buildings and we are extending that rustic ambiance to other parts of the lodge to provide an authentic experience for our guests. Emphasis is placed on the gathering around the fire each night for cold drinks and storytelling, as experienced in African hunting camps, that special time of the day when the sun finally sets and the only sound you will hear is the haunting cry of the loon. A sumptuous dinner in front of the fireplace, brings everyone together at the end of the day to savor, fresh and creative homemade cooking. The covered veranda provides a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the lake and perhaps enjoy an after dinner Cuban cigar.

Accommodations: Gods Lake Haven, an historic lodge, offers a rustic ambiance, where we cater to small, intimate groups, offering our guests new sleeping accommodations, comfortable 2-person clean rooms, crisp sheets and private bathrooms. Wireless internet (Wifi) for your laptop and a satellite phone will keep you in touch with work and home.

Lake Trout are the main target species -- although anglers will encounter the occasional whitefish as well. The typical God's River brookie is a deep bodied, muscular fish used to holding in fast water to avoid pike predation. This 'big water' environment has taught the brookies to be aggressive and opportunistic.
