Apex Fishing Charters was established with one goal in mind, connecting passionate anglers with intense big game fishing. Combine a tenacious crew with a fishery that rivals any on earth and you're sure to have a Grand Isle deep sea fishing experience of a lifetime. When you fish with Apex Fishing Charters you are the apex predator!
Apex Fishing Charters is a deep sea fishing charter service located in Grand Isle, LA. We venture into the Gulf of Mexico in search of a wide variety of game fish including yellow fin tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, marlin, swordfish, sailfish, red snapper, mangrove snapper, cobia, grouper, amberjack, and more.
Grand Isle's location between the Mississippi and Atchafalaya rivers, its close proximity to the continental shelf, and the thousands of oil and gas platforms within eyesight give it a geographical advantage over anywhere on the gulf coast. The combination of bait from the rivers, depths and drop offs created by the continental shelf, and the structure of the platforms provide everything game fish need to thrive, making Grand Isle the pinnacle of deep sea fishing. No where else on the gulf coast offers the quality and quantity of fish available in the fertile waters of Louisiana.
We got into the offshore fishing charter business to give people the opportunity to experience deep sea fishing at its best. At Apex Fishing Charters we fish because we love to and charge because we have to.
We offer a variety of trip options and can customize trips to accommodate all anglers. We consistently fish hard and often fish beyond the allotted time to ensure every angler has the trip of a lifetime.
Captain Ian McGowan

Capt. Ian McGowan holds a USCG approved 50 ton master license. In addition Capt. Ian also holds all applicable fishing permits required by NMFS to operate a charter boat in the Gulf of Mexico.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, I discovered a passion for fishing at an early age. I have fished for everything from bluegill to blue marlin, from the back waters to beyond the continental shelf. With all my experiences I prefer to focus my efforts on the fertile offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
I have fished extensively along the Louisiana gulf coast from the Calcasieu ship channel to the mouth of the Mississippi river south of Venice, LA. As a child I also fished as far east as the Florida panhandle, trolling the coastal waters for various pelagics. I have worked with over a dozen captains, for six different charter companies, observing techniques for catching every species of game fish. I have used these experiences to develop my own productive style of fishing.
Now, I am ready to share my passion and expertise with you as I launch my own Apex Fishing Charters. I look forward to showing you the Gulf of Mexico as you become the Apex Predator!
