Billfishing in Guatemala – The Pacific Fins way

Guatemala is considered by many expert anglers and captains to be the Billfishing Capital of the World. Add to this the fact that its Pacific Coast features some of the most consistently calm waters and you have a great fishing adventure to enjoy with friends and family.
On most days, fishing will start between only 15-20 miles offshore, where the famous underwater canyon called “The Pocket” lies. Top boats average 15-20 Sailfish bites a day, with good days above the 30-bite range. The world record set in 2006 is 124 Sailfish releases by one boat, here in Guatemala’s Pacific Coast. Marlins are now being pursued more actively, for we are seeing days of 4-5 bites per boat.
If Flyfishing is your choice, there is no place on earth that you will have more shots at it than here in Guatemala’s Pacific Coast. Guests staying with us have had consistent 15-18 releases per day with our fleet and captains.
The Fleet

Pacific Fins Resort & Marina features the newest, fastest and most luxurious fleet of gameboats within Guatemala. We take great care of each game boat and have them ready to fish for this 2009-2010 season, after undergoing a lengthy maintenance program during the offseason. Your confort, safety and security are meticulously guaranteed by our captains, mates and onshore staff.
All of our game boats are equipped with top of the line Shimano Tackle, more than enough ballyhoo as well as all the lures and teasers needed to raise billfish.
The Captains
We are proud to have a full staff of guatemalan captains and mates that have been fishing within this beautiful coastline forever. They all know their waters and will do their best to find the billfish for you. First places in local and regional tournaments are part of their resumé, as well as english, great humor and the willingness to surpass all your fishing expectations!
The Resort & Marina

Pacific Fins Resort & Marina is the only luxury fishing resort in Guatemala.
Our boutique hotel lies within a meandering river that leads to the two inlets that are once again being used by the locals. For those of you that remember the legendary Fins ‘n Feathers, this is it, once again…
The breeze that flows every afternoon makes our social areas the most comfortable within all other fishing resorts in Guatemala. Being able to sip your drink while watching the sunset reflected on the sides of the boats is an experience second to none. Afterwards, our chefs will indulge you in a four course gourmet dinner prepared to your choosing from a very elegant collection of international recipies found in our menus.
