Lewes fishing charters Delaware

Delaware FishingWelcome to FIRST LIGHT CHARTERS. This Lewes fishing charter business was developed first and foremost for my love of fishing, but also to accommodate a need for smaller groups of anglers looking to fish the lower Delaware coast. We target a variety of species, primarily using three styles of fishing: Light Tackle, Fly Fishing and Wreck Fishing.

Delaware offers a wide variety of places to target specific fish. From the vast number of artificial reef sites and wrecks, the jetties at the Indian River Inlet, to the Inner and Outer Walls of the Delaware Bay; fishing the lower Delaware Coast from Lewes offers a vast opportunity to fish a lot of excellent structure. At these sites and many others, anglers can target species such as Rockfish (Striper), Tau Tog, Croaker, Bluefish, Sea Bass, Sea Trout, and Flounder.

Captain Cook will customize Lewes fishing charter trips to fit the need of the individual angler. Whether its wreck fishing in the Atlantic or fly fishing the Wall at night, he will create and plan a trip that's right for you! Our Lewes Delaware fishing charters encompass rivers and tributaries of the lower Delaware Bay, the Rehoboth Bay, Indian River Inlet and the Atlantic Ocean.

Delaware FishingLewes Delaware Fishing Boat

Our fishing vessel is a Jones Brothers 20' Cape Fisherman. After extensive research, I chose to purchase this boat not only because of all of it's features and comfort, but also due to its seaworthiness. This boat is designed to skim thru shallow water while still being able to push through rough seas. It is equipped with the latest electronics including a Furuno GPS, Icom Radio and a EPIRB.

Delaware Bay Fishing

Our Delaware Bay fishing charters can accommodate up to groups of 3 anglers with the option of 4, 6, or 8 hour trips. We supply the latest in fly fishing, light tackle and wreck fishing equipment. There will be a vast array of different flies, lures, and rigs aboard, but if you prefer you certainly may bring your own equipment.

Delaware FishingFly Fishing

Saltwater fly fishing is one of the fastest growing sports in town. Whether you just want to start learning, are a novice or a seasoned veteran, Captain Cook will customize a trip which is right for you. Targeted species include: Rockfish (stripers), Bluefish, Seatrout, Flounder, Shad and Croakers. Fly Fishing night trips have become more popular in the past few years. We fish for different species around lights and also around structure such as the Inner and Outter Walls at the mouth of the Delaware Bay.

Delaware FishingLight Tackle Fishing

Spin casting and conventional rods are used in conjunction with light tackle methods. These methods include casting artificial lures and rigged baits for species such as Rockfish (stripers), Seatrout, Bluefish, Shad and Flounder.

Other tactics include drifting live and cut baits on custom made rigs and tackle. Since fish are structure oriented, all fishing is done around some type of structure.

Wreck Fishing

The Delaware Coast is blessed with several natural wrecks and artificial reef sites. These sites are located through out the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Coast. While wreck fishing, our 3 primary targets are Tautog, Seabass and Flounder. Captain Cook makes all of his own custom lures and rigs for wreck fishing, including his ever-popular floating bucktail.

Delaware FishingNight Fishing

Captain Cook specializes in night fishing trips........

Depending upon the species, a lot of fish feed more aggressive at night. Night fishing offers a more solitude style of fishing as most of the boat traffic has dissipated and the winds generally lay down at night. Both fly fishing and light tackle methods can be used to target different species. Casting in and around structure is the preferred method used at night.

Although several different types of fish can be caught at night, Rockfish (stripers), Seatrout and Flounder are the most sought after species.
