East Central Florida Fishing

Redfish are our most abundant and frequently targeted species and provide a challenging target for sight caster plying our shallow rivers and lagoons. If you can get the bait near them without spooking them, they are aggressive, hard-fighting fish with spool stripping speed.

Indian River Florida Fishing

The Indian River was once labeled the "Seatrout capital of the world" and "Gator" sized trout of five pounds or more are our most challenging target for sight caster. These larger fish are extremely wary and will give even the most experienced angler a run for his money. Many of my seasoned anglers state that gator sized trout are more challenging to catch than an Islamorada Bonefish.  If you have the skill and patience to get a lure, fly, or bait near them without spooking them, they are hard-fighting fish with spool stripping speed.

Tarpon are a seasonal fish that migrate northward to the "Space Coast" during the warmer months of the year.  Tarpon are arranged into two categories; juveniles that weigh between 5 and 50 pounds, and adults that can scale to over 150 pounds. Many of my anglers visiting during the summer months enjoy targeting these highly energetic "silver kings".  They are by far the largest and one of the most challenging species to hook and land that we encounter during the year.

Though not as common as redfish and trout, Snook are a prized catch, and are a favorite target of many light tackle anglers visiting Central Florida. Also known as "Linesiders", these fish strike lures, baits, and flies with a vengeance. Snook often get airborne when hooked and can put on quite a show. Common snook range in size from 2 pounds to over 20 pounds.

Black Drum make their appearance during the cooler months of the year.  They range in size from juveniles that weigh just a pound or so to adult fish scaling well into the 60 pound range. Black drum can be found in a wide variety of habitats.

Cobia are a seasonal fish that have gained huge popularity in the last few years.  They range in size from 10 to 60+ pounds.  These highly prized game fish are found in the near shore waters of the Atlantic Ocean and on reefs and wrecks farther offshore.

Jack Crevalle’s are pound for pound the hardest fighting fish that swims.  As a charter captain I've had anglers catch everything from blue gill to blue marlin, and I can honestly say that I believe no other species of fish can compare to this one in the power department.

Tripletail are one of the most unique species of fish we encounter in our near shore waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Tripletail range in size from 1 to 25 pounds and provide great sport on light to medium tackle.

There are various other hard fighting species of fish that can be targeted throughout the year along the near-shore waters of the Atlantic Ocean. They include multiple types of shark, bonito, spanish mackerel, barracuda, snapper, flounder and others. These are all fun fish to catch, but are "seasonal species" along our East central Florida coastline.

Skeeter boats, Yamaha Motors, Lowrance electronics, Reactor Watches, Tru-Turn Industries, Saltwater Assassin Lures, Shimano reels, Lamiglas Rods, Rapala lures, Minn Kota trolling motors, Hookup lures, Sufix super braid lines and fluorocarbon leaders, and Costa Del Mar sun glasses.

Let's go catch your next memory!
