Aguila de Osa Inn is located in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, situated on a high bluff overlooking the Aguitas river with panoramic views of Drake Bay. Reaching out into the Pacific Ocean along the southwest coast, the Osa was once described by National Geographic as one of the most biologically intense places on earth. Encompassing Corcovado National Park and Caño Island, two of Costa Rica's most prized protected areas, the Osa Peninsula is a priceless natural treasure with an abundance of tropical plants, mammals, insects and over 350 species of birds.

We welcome you to Aguila de Osa Inn and look forward to providing you with a long lasting, memorable vacation experience.

Osa Peninsula Fishing

The challenge and excitement of some of the world's best big game fishing awaits you at Aguila de Osa Inn. Over 40 I.G.F.A. records have been set within 80 nautical miles from our hotel including sailfish, black, blue, and striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, cubera snapper, Spanish and sierra mackeral, roosterfish and more. Aguila itself holds five world-fishing records. The Aguila de Osa Inn has the reputation of being a fisherman's paradise.

Our new Palm Beach cold-molded sportfishing boats are powered by Caterpillar 3116 turbo diesels. We carry a full range of Penn International and Shimano reels in all weight classes, for the fly fisherman we specialize in Billy Pates fly reels and Sage rods. Our professional captains (all English speaking) and crew are anxious to be part of your record-breaking vacation.

Aguila’s professionally trained mechanics constantly maintain the boats to the highest possible standards for your safety and enjoyment. Our boats meet all the U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations with lifejackets, flares, GPS, and VHF radios. In addition, we are equipped with a special frequency that enables us to reach a far greater distance than the normal marine radios in case of an emergency.

Thrilled by spectacular runs of marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, rooster fish, and numerous other species of big game fish, guests can take advantage of our 1/2 day or full day fishing charters. At Aguila de Osa Inn practices responsible catch and release fishing techiques and the oldest operation to use circle hooks.

Dorado - best runs are traditionally from late May through October.

Wahoo- not abundant, but an occasional Wahoo may be taken any time. Can be caught between May and October while trolling for sailfish.

Resting high above the water's edge, the rooms are open and spacious; with mesh windows to ensure a tropical breeze to pass through your room.

A well maintained cement trail connects the rooms with the hotel's restaurant/office area, which during the evening hours is well lit to ensure safe passage to and from your room.

To ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay, Aguila de Osa Inn provides daily room service and maintains a 24 hour reception desk.

Where is Drake Bay?

Among Osa Peninsula’s delights are its remoteness and undeveloped, primitive state. Accessible only by boat, the Drake Bay area is free of roads, cars, and even electricity. (We supply our own power 24 hours a day.) We have, however, made it suprisingly accessible for the savy adventurer. Transportation to and from the hotel can be coordinated through our San Jose office (506) 296-2190. Several domestic airlines offer regularly scheduled flights from San Jose to Palmar Sur with flights lasting approximately 40 minutes. From Palmar Sur a comfortable 15 minute mini-van ride through locally co-opted palm oil plantations brings you to the Aguila de Osa Inn dock along the Sierpe River. Once at Sierpe you'll board one of our personalized tenders and begin a one hour boat ride to the hotel, which in itself is a memorable experience. The first half of the journey includes a scenic ride down the Sierpe River, which is relatively flat and lined with towering bamboo trees and low-lying mangroves. At the midway point you'll reach the mouth of the Sierpe River where it empties out into the Pacific Ocean. At that point you'll turn left and head south along the rugged, lush coast for five miles until you disembark at Aguila's very own private dock. You have now arrived.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your travel arrangements we recommend that you contact our office.
