Offshore fishing grounds in Quepos, Costa Rica
Offshore fishing grounds are known for some of the world's best fishing, as well as world-class Mahi-mahi, Yellowfin, MARLIN & SAILFISH action. The fishing grounds are very close in the relatively calm waters of COSTA RICA.
Occasionally, 15- to 35-mile runs will be needed to reach the billfish bite.
We fish an area where the bait rich waters of the COSTA RICA CENTER PACIFIC, Underwater mounts, ledges and canyons keep bait and their predators here year round.
At this special sportfishing location, middleweight game fish hug these inshore waters, while blue marlin, black marlin, sailfish, Mahi-mahi and tuna prowl the deeper offshore waters.
Billfish can be caught here year-round.
In October-November a showing of Mahi-mahi will get the season in gear. Their numbers increase to the point that hookups are the rule rather than the exception.
Mahi-mahi here average 40 to 80 pounds. We have sailfish action all year round. Typical of the Pacific , they average 80 to 140 pounds. The months of january through april are considered prime time for blue marlin average 300 to 600 pounds
Inshore fishing in Costa Rica
We fish The Rock for Rooster One of the premier Inshore fishing in Costa Rica. Fight strong with long fast runs. The Rooster might run anywhere from less than 40 pounds to more than 100 pounds.
Our Most catches fall in the 40- to 60- pounds range. Snapper Most catches fall in the 5- to 25- pounds range. Spanish Mackerel Most catches fall in the 4- to 10- pounds range. Snook Most catches fall in the 10- to 35- pounds range. Grouper Most catches fall in the 5- to 25- pounds range.
