We are an experienced guide service located in the “Northwest Corner” of Connecticut. Catering to beginner, novice and expert anglers in both fly-fishing and spin fishing.
Our base river is the beautiful Housatonic, home to Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Nothern Pike, Carp and more! We also fish a nearby tailwater called the Farmington River . On the river, we offer drift boat trips on our 16 foot Clackacraft, as well as wading trips. In addition, we offer guide services with our 16-foot Bass Tracker Bass Boat on many nearby lakes and ponds as well as certain sections of the Housatonic River. So whatever type of fishing you are looking for, we are at your service, ready and eager to put you on the fish!
My name is Ethan Raskind and before I moved to Connecticut, I lived in Colorado for 16 years. During that time, I fished all over the state and guided in the Vail Valley for 5 years. I now have been living and guiding in this area of Connecticut for 7 years. One of the popular questions I get when on a guide trip is “Why did I ever leave Colorado?” I always answer that question the same way – why else, a woman……..
By the way, I am still happily married with 2 kids!
Bottom line is I love to fish, it’s a sickness and it is great. I fly fish, spin fish, freshwater, saltwater, brackish, wherever they swim. I enjoy fishing in my area for trout and bass, will hit the ocean and drift for fluke, fly rod stripers and blues, troll for tuna, chum for shark and will always have a blast catching panfish with my kids. I very much enjoy guiding and love being on the water. I am a patient guide with beginners, will fine tune novices and will fish you experts as hard as you want. Our boats are clean, comfortable and in excellent working/fishing order. We can provide equipment and tackle that is needed on your trip. We also have very good relationships with 2 local fly shops if you want to purchase other equipment, rods, tackle, etc.
Lunch, snacks and drinks are provided on full-day trips, snacks and drinks provided on half-day trips.
Full-day trips are approx. 8 hours and half-day trips are approx. 4 hours
Guide service rates do not include fishing license or guide gratuity. Connecticut fishing licenses can be purchased online. We will provide you details and/or assistance.
In addition to our standard guided fishing trips. We also offer several Specials - “Fish With Me” Special, a 2 hour Family “Get Your Feet Wet” Special, “Birding/Scenic River Drift” Special and “Wine and Cheese River Drift” Special.
We are fully licensed and insured.
If you need more information about the Litchfield county area, just let us know. We have good contacts with many local hotels/bed and breakfasts, know where the good food, hot coffee and cold beer is and can help make your fishing trip a memorable one. We also have very good relationships with other guides in the area, so whether you are fishing solo or have a big group to organize, we will get you going!
