Your Lead GuideColorado Fishing Guide Service

Barry Simmers - Owner and Lead Guide for Colorado Fishing Guides, has thirty years of flyfishing experience, has fished from British Columbia to the Bahamas, and has caught everything from Northern Pike to Tarpon on a fly rod. He has been filmed by ESPN and has had articles published in Fly Fisherman Magazine. Barry has been fishing the waters in the central Rockies for the past 18 years and has been guiding for the past 10 years. He lives in Bond, CO. on the Colorado River.

The Rivers

The Colorado, Roaring Fork and Eagle Rivers support healthy populations of midges, caddis, mayflies and stone flies, as well as sculpins and numerous terrestrial insects.

Nymph Fishing

Nymphing is excellent throughout the year with Prince Nymphs, Hare's Ears, Stoneflies, and Pheasant Tails as the standard patterns. Call us for more information on seasonal patterns.

Float Fishing

Colorado Fly Fishing GuideFloat fishing is an experience in itself. You are floating on some of the most beautiful rivers in the central Rockies. It is for the novice as well as experienced fisherman. Floating allows you to cover so much more water than a wade trip and allows you to hit those hidden pools that are only accessible by boat.

We promise you that we are the hardest working guides on the river! Our main goal is to share our knowledge and love of fly fishing with you.

FULL DAY FLOATS $400
6 hours on the water, lunch included

HALF DAY FLOATS $350
4 hours on the water

ALL TRIPS INCLUDE FLIES AND ALL EQUIPMENT (RODS AND WADERS)
Float Trips are on the Colorado, Eagle, and Roaring Fork Rivers.

Wade Fishing

We empahsize quality in our trips, therefore, we limit the number to no more than 2 anglers per guide

We fish the Eagle, Colorado, and Roaring Fork Rivers, and we try to pick the best river of the day for your fishing satisfaction. If there are any health or age considerations, let us know in advance, and we will pick the proper river or stream to meet your needs. We have private water for a rod fee.

Colorado River Fly Fishing School

Join us for a unique experience at our 3-day fly fishing school located on the beautiful Colorado River. Learn the art of fly casting and the techniques of fly fishing with instructor Barry Simmers and his staff while enjoying a spectacular view of the Rockies.

School Itinerary

DAY 1

Introduction to flycasting , knot tying and basic fly pattern identificationColorado Fly Fishing Guide for Trout

DAY 2

Wade fish on the Colorado River.

DAY 3

Develop your fishing skills during a float trip down the beautiful Colorado River.

Our instruction is personalized to 2 guest per instuctor. They will focus on the proper techniques of fly casting , reading water , and fly pattern indentification.

ALL INCLUSIVE RATES

$250 per person for two people per day
$350 for a single person per day
Max. 2 people per guide

Rates include all fly fishing instruction, equipment, and beautiful sunsets.

Colorado River Cabin Accommodation

Luark's Cottonwood CabinColorado Fly Fishing Lodges

Luark's Cottonwood Cabins are newly restored 1890's log cabins secluded on the north end of the Luark Ranch. The cabins overlook the Colorado River with TWO MILES of private river frontage! This exclusive get-a-way can be your home on the ranch.

Both cabins offer all the modern conveniences of a full kitchen, full baths, TV and big decks overlooking the river. The cabin comfortably sleeps six - seven.

The master bedroom has a double bed plus one single bed. In the great room there are two more double beds and one pull out couch. A woodstove and hot tub are there for your relaxing pleasure.

Meals can be arranged by the ranch at an extra cost .

The private water on Luark's Ranch is fished only by Colorado Fishing Guides and guests at the Luark Ranch. Day trips to Luark's Ranch are availble for a $25 rod fee. Maximum of 6 rods per day, advanced reservations only.

Some weeks shorter stays are available.
