The Western Pride runs both open party (open to the general public trips) and charter private fishing trips throughout the year. The primary ½ day general admission fishing boat for Davey’s Locker offering a 6 am to noon and 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm ½ day trip daily. Half day trips are a great option for those just starting out with opportunities to catch both large gamefish and good numbers of fish without a huge time commitment. At a $40 rate you also can’t beat the price. Great trips for kids and the whole family. Staff members onboard assist with rigging, bait selection, landing fish, and any other needs you might have. Large sundeck, indoor kitchen with restaurant style booths and tables, and many other amenities make for both relaxing and productive adventures.

  Along with daily ½ day trips the Western Pride also runs general admission and private shark trips both during the day and evening. Captain Dustin Devoe specializes in shark fishing targeting both thresher sharks and mako sharks. Sharks from 100 to 250 pounds are fairly common with larger specimens hooked regularly but can put up quite a battle and are tough to land. This is big game fishing at its best with hard fighting action. 60 pound test is recommended or more and fight belts a must.
For those that don’t have shark gear it can be rented along with anything else you might need. Just don’t forget to bring your camera as there is a good chance of catching a monster of a lifetime. Catch and release is regularly practiced but if you choose to keep your catch onboard fish cleaning is also available.
Best months for shark fishing are spring with the arrival of huge numbers of thresher sharks, the summer and fall months with both makos and thresher sharks present. Private charters are available for groups of 3-15 persons for shark fishing as well (Prices range from $900 to $1200 for private shark trip and $85 per person for general admission shark trips).
