Donner Lake Fishing Guide
Some of the biggest Mackinaw Trout in the Lake Tahoe area come out of Donner Lake.
30.9 lb Mackinaw caught on Donner Lake by Steve Pitts - Click to ZoomHere we fish with downriggers on the bottom, trolling with plugs that imitate Kokanee Salmon and Rainbow Trout to catch these trophy sized fish. In the Spring and Fall, the big Mackinaws come up to the top to feed. This is the time of the year that you have a chance to hook a big one on light tackle in shallow water.
Donner Lake is also great fishing for Kokanee Salmon. These fish are the best tasting Kokanee around.
Stampede Reservoir Guided Fishing Trips
Located just 15 miles from Truckee or 25 miles from Lake Tahoe, this lake holds some of California's trophy Kokanee Salmon.
At Stampede Reservoir we fish with ultra light rods made by Fisher Rods just for the Kokanee. This Northern California lake is so prolific that at anytime we will have two, three, or maybe even four Kokanee on at one time, and that is when it gets fun.
Stampede Reservoir also offers a fine stock of Brown Trout and Rainbows, not to mention some Mackinaw. Fishing here you can expect 20 plus fish in one day.
Davis Lake Guided Fishing Trips
Go fly fishing on Davis Lake during the Damsel Fly hatch between June and July or go trolling during the rest of the year.
Picked up a permit to fish on Davis lake this year. We will start fishing the Damsel fly hatch. This hatch is very prolific and the fish go crazy feeding on them. This will start some time in the month of June-July and continue for about 6 weeks. This is a great time and place to learn to fly fish out of a float tube. I will supply you with all the tackle needed...rods, reels, float tubes, fins and waders...so all you have to do is show up. Trips will start at 8am and go till 1pm. We will be releasing most of the fish we catch. Davis Lake should be a great fishery this year, with over 11 tons of fish planted last year. The lake should have nice Rainbows and some Browns.
Trips will cost $225.00 per angler and the trips will have only 3 total anglers so you get all the help you need to have a great fly fishing adventure. I will do trolling trips early and late in the year.
Eagle Lake Guided Fishing Trips
In late September, the big Rainbow Trout start moving to the north end of Eagle Lake and that is when we start fishing for these monsters.
Trolling through the tules at a slow speed is what these fish want. Some of the best fishing you will encounter is when you hook one of these hard fighting, high flying 4 to 5 pound trout.
You'll want to be prepared for cool weather. Located in the high Sierras, It can be sunny in the morning and snowing by the afternoon. A guided fishing adventure at Eagle Lake requires a two day trip with all tackle and lodging accommodations provided for you.
