Mammoth Lakes - Bishop - Bridgeport
Sierra Drifters offers great year-round Eastern Sierra fly fishing adventures with diverse types of water and programs designed to intrigue the most traveled anglers. Beginner or expert, our professional Eastern Sierra fly fishing guides cater to all skill levels. The Eastern Sierra is home to some of the finest Trout fishing the state has to offer. Come fish for Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat Trout on the fly.
We offer the finest fleet of flats style bay boats in the Eastern Sierra. They range from 21 to 24 feet and can accommodate up to four anglers. We have five boats captained by expert guides. This is our flag ship summer time program and we primarily fish the "crown jewel" of the Sierra...Crowley Lake.
We will also move the "fish magnets" to Bridgeport Reservoir when the bite gets hot, or if a client would like to visit the "other" blue ribbon still water in this region. Crowley and Bridgeport are open during the general trout season in Mono county and we guide here daily.
Lower Owens River Fishing - Year-Round drift boat access
Established in 1998, Sierra Drifters is the pioneering Eastern Sierra fly fishing guide service to offer drift boat trips down the Lower Owens River and is the most experienced fly fishing guide service to offer these trips. We will outfit you with all necessary fishing equipment...you need only supply a current fishing license and your personal gear.
| Drift boating the Lower Owens River near Bishop CA during the fall, winter, and early spring months is the optimum way to fish the secluded and hard to reach sections of this scenic and fertile trout fishery. We offer five expert guides with Willie drift boats that can pilot you on the Lower "O". This is a must do trip if you are interested in fishing here during this time of year. Casting streamers is the predominant method of angling, and can draw some aggressive strikes. There are incredible dry fly opportunities that present themselves as well. This trip is great for novice and expert anglers alike. Our drift boats can ride three anglers comfortably and safely. We have developed unique methods of fly fishing from a drift boat that do NOT require wading during the cooler winter months. We pioneered guided drift boat trips on the Lower Owens and have the most experienced guides in the region. We see the best numbers of fish during September/early December, and larger fish mid-winter through March most seasons. |
High Sierra Fly Fishing Walk and Wade
We also offer high Sierra fly fishing guided "walk and wade" trips to other year round fisheries . Beginner or expert we have top notch guides that can enhance your fly fishing abilities. The Lower Owens, Hot Creek, and East Walker Rivers are open year round.
Our high Sierra fly fishing guides have perfected still water nymphing techniques making it easy for beginning fly fishers, youngsters, and senior anglers to get numerous opportunities at landing the world famous trout on Crowley Lake.
We do not claim to be the inventors of fly fishing...we just made it easier and more enjoyable. The still water fly fishing program is very user friendly and we strongly suggest this as a guide trip during the months of May through October. In fact; Crowley is the most consistent quality trout fishery in the Eastern Sierra. The still water programs are great for large groups, families and fly fishers that enjoy sharing their fishing experiences together first hand.
The general trout season begins on the last Saturday of April every year in Mono and Inyo counties, and ends on November 15th. We guide daily on the waters of the Upper Owens, Hot Creek, The San Joaquin River, the East and West Walker Rivers during the summer months. During the winter months we fish the Lower Owens River by Drift Boat, and wade fish the other year round fisheries.
