Langara Island, Queen Charlotte Islands fishing in BC

MV Charlotte Princess, Langara Island, Queen Charlotte Islands
Oak Bay Marine Group Resorts

Moored at the northern tip of the remote Queen Charlotte Island, the MV Charlotte Princess is a salmon and halibut fisherman's dream. This 135' floating resort was built by fishermen for fishermen, getting you to the prime fishing grounds as quickly as possible. Wave after wave of migrating salmon flow past this island, resting and actively feeding before they continue southward. It's here that we anchor our resort and welcome guests to fish these legendary waters.

Location:

The MV Charlotte Princess is anchored in Henslung Cove on the south side of Langara Island. The island itself is the northernmost tip of the Queen Charlotte Islands, 20 miles south of Alaska. This Langara fishing lodge is well positioned in the calm cove, only minutes away from salmon fishing hotspots like McPherson and Andrews Points where guests have been known to wrestle 40 to 50 lb. salmon into their boats.

Langara Island is the first land mass that migrating salmon encounter as they journey to their natal rivers further down the coast. The quality of open ocean running Chinook in this area is second to none. As for halibut, ling cod and other bottom dwellers, the coastal shelves around the islands offer a great home for these fish, and plenty of prey to keep them actively feeding.

Although anglers can experience rain, fog, sun and winds within several minutes in the Queen Charlotte Islands, the number of points, inlets and coves around the island, as well as its small diameter mean that there are very few fishing days lost to inclement weather. And on a clear day, the Langara Island sunrise is a spectacular site to see.

Fishing:

The MV Charlotte Princess is a self-guided Langara fishing resort where guests fish two per boat. All trips begin with an orientation and full explanation of the waters, boats and fishing gear. Our expert Fishmasters (anglers with plenty of experience fishing around Langara Island) are always on the water, ensuring that you have enough bait, fishing gear, and know-how to bring in your dream salmon as well as have a safe and enjoyable fishing experience. They are always within radio distance ready to give you pointers on techniques, salmon fishing hot spots or help you net that beautiful salmon that you've been playing for over an hour.
For novice anglers, the MV Charlotte Princess offers a New Frontiers Program including additional on-the-water instruction to help you get started and feel comfortable with the fishing process.

Masterfisherman Club

Oak Bay Marine Group believes in celebrating spectacular fish and the anglers who catch them. The exclusive Masterfisherman Club honours Chinook/King salmon over 50 lbs, Coho/Silvers over 20 pounds and halibut that top the scales at over 100 lbs. Each angler who catches one to these trophy fish is awarded the title Masterfisherman. He or she is recognized by the captain at dinner, given a hat and pin, has his or her name engraved on the resort plaque and receives 10,000 Fanatic Fishing Points. It's an honour that most aim for but only a select few achieve.
