 Belize River Lodge is a first class fishing & eco tourism destination in Central America and the Caribbean. The main Lodge rests peacefully on the banks of the Belize Olde River amidst a lush green tropical setting. Balmy breezes, rich with bird-song, drift among the private mahogany cottages where you can relax & enjoy our Belizean hospitality & our tasty Belizean-Creole-American cuisine. The Lodge is about 10 minutes from the Belize International Airport and approximately four miles from the mouth of the river & the Caribbean Sea.
Belize River Lodge has been in continuous operation since 1961 catering to all types of anglers – fly and conventional tackle, and was originally known as Barothy’s Caribbean Lodge Ltd. Mike & Marguerite are the owners as of 1987 and are the hosts of your tropical adventure, whether fishing or touring and their on-site management makes BRL one of the most personalized lodges in the Caribbean.
Belize City Flats Fishing
 Belize River Lodge specializes in sight fishing the many saltwater FLATS in Central Belize. While the Flats are our specialty, variety is our main attraction - Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit & Snook are the main species caught by fly fishing or spin casting enthusiasts.
Belize city ifshing from comfortable panga-style skiffs, usually two anglers to a skiff, with an English speaking, experienced, professional, licensed fishing guide, who are some of the best in Belize.
Our diverse fishing areas include the Flats, Cayes, Barrier Reef, mangroves, channels, many rivers & the creeks in between. Fishing is for a variety of game fish species, including Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon & Snook, also Cubera Snapper, Jacks, Barracuda, Grouper & others. This is a very large area with a great variety of fishing conditions, fish species and scenery, thereby making Belize River Lodge primarily known for its variety in fish species & diverse fishing areas. Due to Central Belize’s diversity, visible “Super Slams – Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit & Snook” occur daily, landed slams depend on anglers and fish.
 Belize River Lodge is the naturalist’s paradise. Birdwatching (over 100 species identified on the property) at the Lodge is common before breakfast and with touring guests. There is also possibilities of seeing iguanas, howler monkeys, crocodiles, and quash and the occasional tapir and many other local animals and birds. Eco-tours to the Barrier Reef, the jungle river & mangrove cathedrals, manatee watching and the Maya temples are all very easily accessible from the Lodge. While close to the airport, the Lodge is conveniently located in a tranquil jungle setting: no long boat rides or extra plane trips are needed.

BRL’s Long Caye Outpost
 BRL’s Outpost at Long Caye sits on the front of the island overlooking Belize’s Barrier Reef and offers spectacular views of the sparking blue-green waters of the Caribbean Sea. The Outpost caters to anglers and to people who are just looking to get away from it all in a comfortable and relaxing setting. While called an outpost, BRL’s Outpost is more of a destination, offering three double occupancy bedrooms and a shared bath (hot & cold water) for all guests, thereby catering to groups/families of up to 6 people. The main building has a full verandah overlooking the beach and sea. All rooms have ceiling fans and power is from a generator which will run while you are visiting this breathtakingly beautiful island retreat.
Whether you are fishing or touring, both are available from the Outpost. As with fishing from the main Lodge, BRL’s guides fish long hours AND as the Outpost sits in some of Belize’s best fishing waters, you have a choice of your fishing day, fish early and/or fish late for Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Snook and many other species. If you are relaxing or touring, then BRL’s Outpost is a great choice as it is on the beach. BRL’s Outpost caters to your preference and you can snorkel the Barrier Reef, manatee watch, swim in the warm Caribbean waters or relax on the beach in an astoundingly beautiful setting, being catered to by your Outpost staff.

Belize Fishing Charter Cruise
 Belize River Lodge also operates fishing &/or vacation cruises. The M.V. Blue Yonder, is your lodge on water. This 52’ Chris Craft; which is outfitted with a private, fresh water shower; a/c; private sleeping quarters; and galley provides a convenient opportunity to fish, snorkel and beachcomb. Your day aboard the live-aboard is scheduled by you, your chef, your mate, and captain. It is a truly versatile way to fish a wide variety of fishing grounds within the least populated areas of Belize for Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Snook and lots more. BRL’s experienced and hard working guides assist you in fishing at your own pace. No long runs in the skiff are necessary since your mothership is anchored in calm protected areas near the fishing. Unbelievably good snorkeling is usually close-by. The hard working crew of the M.V. Blue Yonder helps to make your cruise a memorable experience whether you are fishing or vacationing. GRAND SLAMS are common on these trips.
