Long Island Bahamas Bonefish Guide and Lodge

Long Island Bahamas Bonefish Guide
Wading for Bones

bahamas fishing lodgeHello, They call me BONEFISH COLIN. I live in the settlement of Cartwrights on Long Island, Bahamas. I have been guiding for bonefish for some fourteen years now. I were the first and only certified bonefish guide to own and operate a bonefish lodge here on Long Island, in the Bahamas. At first, when I built my lodge back in the year of 2000, I named it Triple Seas Bonefish Lodge, but in October of 2005, I renamed it to Cartwright's Bay Bonefish Lodge.

My aim is to satisfy my clients to the best of my ability on a good day of fishing. I concentrate more on spotting and finding the bonefish, so my clients can land them. I also take my clients out on the bahmas fishing lodgeocean to do some blue water fishing, fly casting and light trolling for Dorado, Yellow Fin, Skip Jack and Black Fin Tuna, King Fish and Barracudas. Anglers can book direct to my lodge and enjoy a memorable trip of fishing.

Fly fishing at Cartwright's Bay Bonefish Lodge is second to home. At night you would sometimes see Tarpon rolling on the surface of the water near your bedroom windows.

The Flats Bonefishing

The inland flats are known to be the most best wading flats in the caribbean. Anglers can wade these flats without wearing waders for miles. Some are back country flats where we would call the bahmas fishing lodgesticks, has soft bottom, known as feeding bottom. This is where you would find those tailing bones. Usually there would be pods of 50-100 fish just digging their noses down in the mud with their silver fins and tails sticking out of the water. Oh what a site to see and catch! These fish average in weight from 2-6 pounds. The ocean flats consist of large, soft bottom flats where we would mostly pole and fish from the boat. These flats would have to be fished upon an incoming tide. The fish on the ocean flats are much bigger and fights more tougher than those on the inland flats. We also have muds where you could blind cast and catch bonefish, jacks and small lemon sharks.

bahmas fishing lodgeThe Boats

2005 17' Cartwrights Bay Bonefisher with 85 HP Yamaha, front cushion seat for two anglers. Plus dry storage box. This boat is awesome. It can be poled into skinny water and very quiet into the wind. My clients fell in love with this boat the first time they have fished in it.

1999 16' Carolina skiff with 40 HP Yamaha, with two cushion seats for two anglers. This boat works good on the inland flats and channels, especially for wading.

Long Island Bahamas Bonefish Lodge

bahmas bonefishing lodgeCartwrights Bay Bonefish Lodge is located on the water front near the Deadman's Cay sound. The inland flats are just minutes away from the lodge in a boat ride. This lodge can accommodate four anglers at one time. There are two rooms both with double beds and baths. The rooms are built of a wooden structure and painted with a varnish stain. These rooms supply hot/cold shower, cable T.V. and air conditioning. You can also have access to a small kitchen area that has a stove, fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker and there is also an outside Barbeque. The Deadman's Cay airport is just about a ten minute drive from the lodge. Transportation to and from the airport is available. I also own the Hot Spot Restaurant and Outside Bar, just a short walk away from the lodge. This is where you can get those tasty native dishes, cold Bahamian Kalik beer and leaded coconut water.
