How to get to Abaco?
Once you land at the airport in Marsh Harbour (MHH) it's just 17 miles to Casuarina Point. There are lots of charter services that offer commuter flights to the Abacos from Florida.( Vintage, Bahamas Air, Tropic Air Charters, Island Express, Yellow Air Taxi, Abaco Air, Cherokee Air & many more) Major airlines like Continental ,USAir & American also offer daily flights into Marsh Harbour. Most flights are approx 1 hour from Florida as we are located just 200 miles due east of Miami, Florida and 40 miles east of Grand Bahama Island and 75 miles north of Nassau.
Abaco Island is 776 square miles and is the second largest island (cay) in the Bahamas. It is about 130 miles long (north to south) and 10 miles wide. It is primarily pine forests and has unlimited water reserves, it also consists of 20+ cays and adjacent islands mostly on the eastern side. The population of Abaco's cay's combined equally approx 10,000.
What to wear?
Slacks/shorts, lightweight cotton or supplex nylon long sleeved shirts (for sun protection) light colours/fabric fleece sweater or jacket (for early mornings & evenings & running in the boat) Shows Rubbers soled non slip for boating or canvas sneakers or Tevas. We highly recommend anyone who plans to do a bit of wading while on vacation to wear neoprene booties or wet socks. For a fishing hat we recommend a long front visor with a dark underbill as this enhances polarizing qualities of sunglasses and it must shade face, neck and ears.
