 Weipa, gateway to the western cape is situated on the eastern side of the Gulf of Carpentaria, and about two-thirds of the way up the western shore of Cape York. Serviced by daily commercial aircraft makes this small mining town one of the most accessible remote locations in Australia.
With protection from the prevailing south easterly winds for most of the year, and a multitude of pristine rivers and coastline for both light tackle sport fishing and fly fishing, the range of species available is second to nowhere else in the country.
With more than 55 species of fish available to fly and lure, our Weipa fishing trips strive to incorporate walking the beaches and flats, and fishing creeks, rivers and estuary. Our vessels are also set up for fishing offshore for larger pelagic species either with fly or lure.
Come to Weipa and catch such great sportfish as; Queenfish, GT's, Barramundi, Giant Herring, Golden Trevally, Permit, Milkfish, Spanish Mackerel,Grey Mackeral Longtail Tuna and many more fish species. Catch Cobia and Golden Trevally off the backs of giant Manta Rays, or walk the pristine beaches and sight cast to cruising Queenfish and Trevally. Almost all of the tropical fish species abound here in an extremely diverse fishing environment.

Weipa Fishing Charters Our Fishing Vessels
 Longtail: A 6m Cairns Custom Craft Northwind built and commissioned in July 2001. The layout was designed and fitted by Alan for longer range salt water fly fishing in the Cape York region. It is fully carpeted, has large storage, and fitted with assembled fly rod storage for 4 rods. Longtail is now fitted with a 115HP fuel injected Yamaha 4 stroke motor and a top speed of around 32knots.
Last Cast: Our latest 6m Cairns Custom Craft commisioned 2003 was designed after the same layout as Longtail.This vesselhowever has higher sides and a little heavier.Last Cast is fitted with up to date electronics and a 115hp 4 stroke Yamaha. Fast and comfortable.
Wildfish: A 5m Cairns Custom Craft Barra Tracker and was built and commissioned in March 1999 and was FF&S first boat and how it all started. Again the layout was designed and fitted by Alan, but for fly fishing flats and creeks with uncluttered deck space and maximum storage. This boat is an excellent highly manoeuvrable boat for two fly fishermen and has incredible stability. Wildfish is fitted with a 80HP Yamaha 4 stroke motor.
Pumpkin Head: The newest addition to the Stable is a Fibreglass 5M "Gale Force". Although purpose designed for flyfishing it is also very useful for all types of fishing. It is fitted with electric motor to make manouvering across the flats or up the mangrove banks quieter and easier. Fitted with a 60Hp 4 stroke Yamaha gets along at a comfortable 28knots. The ideal boat for chasing those spooky fish in skinny water.
Get'n'any Duane's 5.5m Fisher Custom is the newest addition to the fleet. It has all the latest electronics and is powered by a 100hp Yamaha. This plate aluminium boat is designed to accommodate up to 3 lure fishermen in comfort.
