Argentina Fly Fishing Lodges

Nervous Waters means Great Fly Fishing. We believe great fly fishing is an overall experience involving far more than the actual fly fishing itself. It is a combination of sporting excellence with the highest level of total service. We own and operate eight world-class fly fishing lodges in destinations as diverse and unique as Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, the Iberá Marshlands and remote parts of the Bahamas.

Kau-Tapen Lodg
e - Tierra del Fuego Fly Fishing Sea Trout

Kau-Tapen ("House of Fishing" in the Ona language) was the first fly fishing lodge in Tierra del Fuego and represents the standard of elegance by which other lodges are measured. What started as the brainchild of Jorge Donovan and Jacqueline De Las Carreras more than twenty years ago, has revolutionized the way in which the fishing world views big trout.

Located in the heart of the Rio Grande -the best River for Sea Trout fly fishing in the world- Kau Tapen combines the most elegant accommodations with mind-boggling Sea Trout fly fishing, holding 5 world records for Sea Run Trout.

Villa Maria Lodge -
Fly Fishing Sea Trout

Villa Maria Lodge rests on the historic grounds of the José Mendendez Estancia property with access to both banks of the river. Big rods and big pools are the norm. A lot of anglers tell us they love Villa Maria because it is "tough", but the lodge doesn't sacrifice creature comforts to focus on big-fish fishing. Tough maybe but not too tough.

Since 1994 Villa Maria has offered small private groups exciting fly fishing on some of the most productive pools in the lower river. Villa Maria is a double handed fly fishermen's dream, enjoying the first crack of the whip at newly arrived sea trout.

Toon Ken Lodge - Rio Grande Dry
Fly Fishing Sea Trout

Established in 1997, Toon Ken is situated just upstream of its sister lodge, Kau Tapen, on the Rio Grande. Toon Ken enjoys some of the most productive pools on the upper river.

The newly designed lodge has been re-located on a high bluff overlooking the river. Modern conveniences assure comfort and a fine staff see to every detail.

Drift a dry fly over Sea-Run Trout that average better than 12 pounds, or find the Southern Cross in a sea of stars each night.

Bella Vista Lodge
Fly Fishing Sea Trout and Brown Trout

The Fisherman's River...

Opened in 1995, Bella Vista Lodge is the most exclusive lodge on the Rio Gallegos, offering exciting fishing for giant sea-run trout as well as some of the finest dry fly brown trout fishing, on an intimate spring creek.

A much bigger system than its sister river the Rio Grande, the Gallegos and its pools are far more varied in their character. Slow oily looking holding pools are interspersed with fast riffles and boulder strewn runs, and the gravel bottom makes wading very easy.

The Estancia owns nearly 50 kms of double bank private access fishing which is limited to a maximum of ten rods per week.

Guided by one of a team of experienced fly fishing guides, each pair of rods have only the diverse wildlife of the river valley for company. Even the most experienced angler will learn new techniques and skills that will improve his averages elsewhere.

A challenging but infinitely rewarding river, the Gallegos' list of devotees grows year after year.

Pira Lodge
- Dorado Fly Fishing Corrientes River Ibera Marshlands

The lodge is located in the Corrientes Province, Northeast Argentina, in the middle of the Ibera Marshlands, within 1,300,000 hectares of Natural Reserve. This area is twice the size of the Florida Everglades.

The lodge sits right on the edge of a channel providing direct access to the marsh system and to the Corrientes River, located 15 min south of the lodge.

The Ibera Marshland is a vast system of non-polluted crystal-clear creeks, flowing rivers, shallows and lakes.

The Province of Corrientes borders Uruguay, and enjoys one of Argentina's subtropical climate patterns, with temperatures in the mid-80s early and late in the season.

The Ibera Marshland is almost completely unexplored and uninhabited. It is home to more than 350 species of birds (parrots, southern screamers, kingfishers, ibis, herons…), 85 mammals and almost 70 reptiles, and an incredible abundance of flora.

During your stay you will have a chance to see species such as capybara, river otters, Yacare (cayman), howler monkeys and marsh deer. If you are interested in spending extra time spotting the wildlife or the unique birdlife of the Ibera, please let the head guide know on arrival.

We also offer fly fishing lodges in Patagonia, Chile and in the Bahamas. Please click below to Request more Information.
