The fabled Chimehuin River is the most famous of all Patagonian rivers and home of endless stories of the monster trout that live in its productive waters. The Chimehuin is born on Lake Huechulafquen and flows for 40 trout rich kilometers until it meets Collon Cura River. The Chimehuin, also referred as “the Cathedral of Patagonia Fly fishing” is the place where fly fishing in Patagonia begun.

Made famous by Joe Brooks and other fly fishing gods during the ‘60’s, the Chimehuin put Patagonia on the fly fishing maps of the world. The mythical mouth or “Boca” gather fishermen from all around the world to catch the gigantic trout that every year migrates from the lake to the river to spawn. The Chimehuin is very productive with all fly fishing techniques be it dry, nymph or streamer and every corner may give you the fish of a lifetime.
We can float right from the Lodge or drive and wade the many productive pools the Chimehuin has to offer.
Besides the fabled Chimehuin River we have exclusive access to
multiple rivers and streams not more than 40 minutes away from the
Lodge.
All rivers in this region move eastbound towards the Atlantic Ocean
through the Valley of the Rio Negro. The Pulmari, Rucachoroi, Quillen,
Malleo, Catan Lil and other smaller streams drain into the Alumine
River until it meets the Chimehuin River and both form the Collon Cura
which also joins the Limay further east which receives water from the
Traful, Caleufu, Meliquina, Filo Hua hum and Pichi Leufu Rivers from
the south.
All these rivers are interconnected creating a unique ecosystem that
is the ideal habitat for wild big healthy trout.
ELDORADO: ARGENTINA'S BEST FLY FISHING FOR GOLDEN DORADO

The Juramento River, a tailwater born below El Tunal Dam in NW Argentina has proved to be the best and most reliable Dorado river in the world.
After long talks with local authorities and guides, we finally got a 10 yr. permit to float the river from just below the dam to some 50 miles downstream, giving us the opportunity to fly fish the most productive water of this river.

The Juramento is a small river (50' to 100' wide) compared to most Dorado Rivers in Argentina. Since we float most of the time, no long cast are required (15' to 30' are the norm). Water is clear to tea colored depending on the season.
A typical float is from 9 am to 8 pm giving the angler plenty of time to fly fish and lots of water to explore. We fish from rafts casting REALLY LARGE streamers on # 8 to 10 wt rods and sink tip lines casting tight against the banks, submerged logs, rocks, etc. The sight of a Dorado taking your fly is something incredible and if you have enough self control to strip strike you are ready for an exciting battle were most of the time the fish wins. Dorado have a powerful jaw equipped with sharp teeth, and it behaves like an ocean fresh steelhead on steroids.
We have 7 different floats to do making every day of a weeks fishing different from the other. The "Patagonia" section (just below the dam) is crystal clear and is superb for sight fishing. Since the water is slightly colder, only small dorado up to 15 lbs can be caught here with an average fish being 6 lbs. The rest of the floats can surprise the angler with fish up to 30 lbs.
CRYSTAL CLEAR TRIBUTARY FLY FISHING (NEW):
Unlike any other Golden Dorado operation in Argentina we have 24
Exclusive miles of private crystal clear tributary fly fishing in the rain forest. These tributaries are infested with smaller Dorado (average size is 5 lbs) but every pool might reward you with a fish over 10 lbs, easily. We use # 6 weight rods and smaller streamers to sight fish for these babies in crystal clear water.
