Alaska Wildland Adventures (AWA) has been guiding guests down the Kenai River since 1977. Our many years of experience with both the upper and lower sections of the river has garnered us the reputation as the fishing leader on the Kenai. AWA was one of the first companies to be permitted to raft and fish the Upper Kenai River. We are proud to share our experience with all our guests and friends. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first time fly fisherman, we'll put you on the fish every time!

After a long day of fishing, many guests gather on the riverside deck to trade fish tales, relax in the wood-fired sauna or cast a line in our own eddy for some evening fishing under Alaska's midnight sun.
Friendly, Professional Fishing Guides on Kenai River
Our Alaska fishing guides are some of the best, most experienced anglers on the Kenai River. They are friendly, know the river like the back of their hand, and will outfit you with only top-quality fishing equipment and gear. The banks of the upper Kenai River offer productive fishing for sockeye salmon, silver salmon, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Guided trips are up to eight hours per day!
At Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge, our guides aren't just guides, they're our most important asset. Some have been coming back every summer for years, and we love when returning guests request a special guide. How do these years of experience translate into a benefit to you? Your Alaska fishing guide has already honed their skills on these waters; they'll teach you their unique angling tips and how-to tricks. Our guides will set you up with the baits, lures, and flies that work best on the river. Whether you're an accomplished angler or a recreational fisherman looking for a great vacation, our guides strive to make your experience memorable.
The Ultimate Alaska Fishing Challenge
Fishing the lower Kenai River is the ultimate Alaska sportfishing challenge! Experience the thrill of catching a huge Alaska king salmon or hard-fighting silver salmon, depending upon the season. We also offer fly-out Alaska fishing trips as well as giant halibut charters in Resurrection Bay. Two to seven day fishing packages are available.
It's always a great time to fish with us! From the early king salmon in June to the trophy rainbows in September, every month of the summer offers world-class fishing. Fish the upper Kenai River from our custom drift boats and the lower from our custom power boats, while enjoying the scenic views and fishing in Alaska. Each of our boats comfortably accommodates up to four anglers.
Why Choose Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge?
Experience Speaks for Itself.
Since 1977, Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge has been guiding guests on sportfishing trips down the Kenai River. Our over 30 years of experience fishing both the Upper and Lower sections of the river has earned us the reputation as the fishing leader on the Kenai, and we take pride in sharing our experiences with all our guests.
When you stay with us, you'll have the opportunity for a comprehensive fishing experience. We offer the best Kenai River fishing options: not only do we possess limited entry permits that allow us to fish the premium waters of the upper Kenai for silver salmon, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden - we're also permitted to fish the lower Kenai for king and silver salmon. On top of this, we provide opportunities to fish for world-record halibut in Resurrection Bay, drift for kings on the Kasilof River, or venture to a secluded lake to experience a once-in-a-lifetime fly-out fishing trip. You can customize your fishing trip, sampling various species, techniques, boats and scenery; or focus on your favorite kind of fishing every day.
Up to Eight Hours of Guided Fishing Per Day.
On the Kenai, the bite can happen all day long, and we want to maximize your chances of landing the fish. Two of the strategies we use are getting on the water early and staying on the water for a full eight hour day. We find these to be two of the many reasons our guests come back grinning in the evening with successful fish tales to tell (and fillets to freeze) and the reason that so many of our guests choose to come back to fish with us!
From the time we pick you up in Anchorage until the time we drop you off, we'll take care of you. Our goal is to provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime Alaska sportfishing adventure. We'll take care of the details so you can put your feet up, relax and focus on that trophy salmon or trout you're after!
