Prince of Wales Island Alaska Fishing Charters and Lodge
Prince of Wales is famous for it's world class salmon fishing. From early June through July, King Salmon are abundant and our Prince of Wales Salmon fishing charters catch range from 20 to 60 pounds. These bright ocean run fish hit hard and fight strong. Typically, in late June the silvers come on the scene and can be caught in the ocean through the end of August. They are lively fighters and the limit is generous so the fishing action is nearly nonstop more days and not.
If you are looking for world-class sport fishing opportunities; either on one of our many rivers, or aboard a charter boat on the open ocean while surrounded in scenic splendor, then consider Prince of Wales Island.
Ocean anglers fish for king, silver and sockeye salmon in addition to halibut, ling cod and other bottom fish. While out on the open ocean whales, seals, porpoise and sea lions abound for fabulous photo opportunities.
Our charter captains operate 22' to 24' vessels with modern 4 stroke motors & kickers with the latest navigational and fish finding electronics to ensure a safe, successful Prince of Wales Alaska fishing charter

Where is Southeast Retreat
Our lodge is located on the west coast of Prince of Whales island. The map below shows southeast Alaska and Ketchikan which is approximately 30 air miles away.
Prince of Whales Island is the third largest island in the United States. It has an extensive road system most of which is finally paved. There is more wildlife here than people: home to the Black Bear, Sitka Blacktail Deer, Wolf, Mink, Martin and other land mammals as well as eagles and a host of migratory birds.
The east side of the island is bordered by the inside passage. Our lodge, located on the west coast is bordered by the open ocean. Not only is the fishing excellent, but the amount of whales, seals, sea lions, sea otters and birds is phenomenal. Soaring eagles and diving puffins join us in fishing our local waters.
Prince of Whales Island is covered mostly in timber, part of the nearly 17 million acres that make up the Tongass National Forest, (a rain forest). We get over 150 inches of rain per year which provides a lush, green canopy to explore.
We are located about 5 miles outside of Klawock on the edge of Big Salt Lake and the bay. Ten miles down the road is Craig, the largest town on Prince of Wales Island, where you can stop in for a restaurant meal or go for a day of shopping.
