Prince of Wales Island fishing and lodging for Salmon, Halibut, Trout in Alaska

Thorne Bay Lodge is Located on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska

Thorne Bay Lodge offers Guided fishing trips for halibut and salmon, and Self-Guided fishing and hunting. Located on Prince of Wales Island we have access to 2,600 square miles of public land. The entire island, and most of Southeast Alaska, is within Tongass National Forest. With over 990 miles of coastline and over 1,500 miles of road maintained by the Forest Service you have access to nearly the entire island to hunt and fish. Prince of Wales Island is the third largest island in the US territory. Flights go through Seattle, Washington and arrive in Ketchikan, Alaska. The island is accessible by a 35 minute float plane ride from the Ketchikan aiport or a 3 hour ferry ride. We will pick you up at the dock.

Prince of Wales Offshore Fishing

Fishing on our 28 foot cruiser is comfortable and the cabin is large enough for everyone to seek shelter when it rains. We use twin motors for added security when we are out on the water. The shallow depths at which the fish feed make for a uniquely pleasant fishing experience. We fish water from 120 to 300 feet. Saltwater fishing is a lot of fun and the variety of fish available is incredible. Your next strike may be a 20 pound Ling Cod or a 150 pound Halibut.

This year we are proud to be working with Silverthorn Charters to bring you the best saltwater experience.

Prince of Wales Fishing Guide

Prince of Wales offers endless opportunities for your fishing adventure. There are more lakes and streams than one man can ever attempt to fish in a lifetime. All of the rivers are well suited for wading. Unlike most of Alaska there are no Brown Bears on the island, only black bears.

Freshwater species available:

Prince of Wales Island Hunting

Prince of Wales Island offers world class hunting for Trophy Black Bear and Sitka Blacktail Deer. Both spring and fall bear and deer hunts are available. All hunting is self guided. Prince of Wales Island is the third largest island in the US territories, behind Hawaii and Kodiak Island. There's plenty of ground to cover with over 1500 miles of road, 2,600 square miles of forest, and 1000 miles of shoreline on the island for you to explore.

All tags are over the counter. You will see deer and bear while you drive around the island but the bigger animals will be harvested by the hunters who get out and work the grass flats and clear cuts.
