Misty Fjords Ketchikan Fishing

Hidden Inlet Resort is located inside the Misty Fjords National Monument on the Portland Canal. It is the only commercial operation within the Monument's millions of acres. It is located on the site of the historic Hidden Inlet Cannery. The Cannery was located here because it is where the fish are. It is also a deep safe harbor.

Misty Fjords Wilderness

A visit to Hidden Inlet is a trip into Alaska's wilderness and history. Upon arrival at Hidden Inlet the boats are ready and their captains are anxious to take them out. At Hidden Inlet we pride ourselves on allowing the guests to experience a true Alaskan wilderness adventure. We only accept 12 people at a time and we reserve the entire Camp for groups of 8 or more. On the first day the boats and guides are ready to go from the moment of your arrival. They will show you some of the pristine Alaska wilderness in the Misty Fjords and where the fishing has been hot. After that your vacation is up to you. We conform our schedule to yours. The day often starts with a trip out to pull first the crab pots and then the shrimp pots that you set the day before. The Hidden Inlet area has the most and some of the largest Dungeness crabs in Alaska. In the Winter commercial fishermen come from as far away as Petersburg to fish there. You will not go hungry. Then we take you fishing targeting the species of your choice. During their runs we have king, silver, pink, chum and sockeye salmon. Usually (but not always) we troll for them in the morning. Then as our fish boxes begin to fill up we switch to bottom fishing for halibut, ling cod and yellow eye (red snapper).

Last year a 14 year old boy who had caught an 85 pound halibut the day before enjoying the fight of his life when he brought up a 186 pound monster. He wants his dad to bring him back this year. When you return to Camp we will clean, process and freeze your fish for you. You can retire to the comfort of your well appointed cabin or enjoy a beverage in the lounge. The lounge is built out over the waters of Gwent Cove. From its balcony you can watch the seals and the eagles ply the waters of the cove for dinner. But that is only a typical day. Again, your vacation is your vacation. You might choose to explore the waterfalls and stream in Hidden Inlet itself. It is known as the ?Land that time forgot?. You might choose to view some bears, go whale watching or beach combing. You tell us what you want your Alaskan wilderness experience to be. We will customize your trip to you!
