Kodiak Island, Alaska Fishing & Hunting Lodge

Experience and dedication to each guests needs is what sets us apart from the growing number of Destinations on Kodiak Island.

We have been in the Sport Fishing and Guiding industry for 15 years in the same location. Our knowledge of the fishing grounds, the right tackle to use, and when and how to fish the tides is unsurpassed.

Your comfort, safety and success are what is most important to us. Our 38 ft. custom built charter boat is perfectly suited to fish six guests with ample room both inside and out.

The lodge is spacious and will comfortably sleep 8 guests.

Sea duck hunting is a specialty with rare opportunities for collectors. Whether your vacation brings you fishing or hunting, Kodiak Wilderness Adventures can satisfy your dream.

Kodiak Salmon Fishing

Because of Kodiak Island's location in the Gulf of Alaska, our fishing opportunities are seemingly endless. We have a year round population of King Salmon who hang around to feed on the numerous bait fish that surround the Islands of the Kodiak Archipelago. Although we catch them year round, they feed most actively from May through September. These King Salmon are generally known as Feeder Kings.  This means they are not destined for their respective rivers in the same year that they are caught in, and run in the three and four year old class. Their average size is about 23 pounds, and because of this we are able to use lighter tackle than one might expect when trolling for King Salmon.

During May and June, we focus our attention on trolling for Kings and Halibut Fishing. Bear viewing is excellent at this time as well due to the hungry bears that are looking for a meal on the salmon streams.Sightseeing opportunities at this time and throughout the summer months are unsurpassed for whale watching, birding, and checking out our local population of sea otters.

July provides us with the first Silver Salmon of the season fished in salt water. We fish these fresh Silver Salmon from our boat using a variety of techniques such as Trolling, Jigging, Spin Casting, and even Fly Casting. Silvers at this time are usually in large schools, and provide us with extremely fast action.

The month of August is when the Silvers start to gather in the river systems, waiting for their perfect moment to continue up stream. This gives our guests the opportunity to sight cast their favorite fly or lure at these acrobatic, chrome bright beauties while wading the banks in a stream, or from the boat in an inner tidal area.

Kodiak Halibut Fishing

Thousands of these Giant Fish of the Pacific migrate into the shallow waters surrounding our home during the summer months. This makes locating and hooking them the easy part of the fishery! We often hear people refer to a Halibut as a  barn door, however the resemblance is strictly size related! When hooked in reasonably shallow water, (less than 200 ft.) these fish are quite active and will give even the most adept angler a formidable battle. Populations are healthy, with several Huge fish taken and lots of these challenging fish in the 50 to 100 pound size last season. These flat fish are not only fun to catch, but are becoming a valuable eatery fish as well. Supermarkets are getting up to $16.00 per pound for these excellent eating sport fish!

Fishing Charter Kodiak Alaska C/V Amy Lorese

The Amy Lorese is our custom built 38 ft. fishing Charter Boat. This is an incredibly stable and very user friendly boat. It has the capacity to sleep 6 very comfortably, with 2 bunk rooms, 2 heads, and a large pilot house. This is the largest charter boat in the fleet here in Port Lions. Most of the other lodges and guides use skiffs, but our vessel can truly be called a boat. Since you will be spending most of your time with us aboard the Amy Lorese, comfort is of the utmost importance, and this vessel has that and more. Full sized walk around decks, ample room to fish without being crowded, and room to stretch out is what this boat is all about.

Kodiak Fishing Lodge Accommodations

Our lodge is situated on Settlers Cove in the small fishing village of Port Lions. The Guest Area is on the first floor, with the top floor dedicated to your hosts residence. When you arrive, you will be unloaded at the ramp that attaches to the spacious deck overlooking Settlers Cove.Entry into the lodge is from this deck. Located just inside the door is a great room with lots to look at. Mounted local sea ducks and locally trapped foxes and land otters adorn this area. A wood burning fireplace takes the chill off on rainy days, and a tundra swan in flight seems to come from the horizon. Off of this great room are 4 guest rooms. Two rooms have 3 double beds with a bathroom in each. The third has two doubles with bath, and the fourth room has 1 queen size bed and it's own bath as well. We have City water and sewer, and many of our guests comment on the great water pressure. A washer & dryer is located on this floor for your use, as well as a freezer and commercial size refrigerator. Meals are taken on the top floor, with an awesome view of the cove and the surrounding mountains. Eagles entertain you while dining on meals that won't soon be forgotten. All of our guests rave about the food here. We do not skimp on portions or the quality of what we are serving you.
