Lake Iliamna Fishing Lodge Bristol Bay Alaska

Alaska Fishing Resort
On the shores of Lake Iliamna

Alaska FishingRainbow Bay Resort is one of the most remote (180 miles from the nearest road), luxurious, yet rustic fishing lodges to be found in Alaska. We are located Southwest of Anchorage on the shores of Lake Iliamna near the small village of Pedro Bay.

Rainbow Bay Resort is family owned, built, and operated by Jerry and Karen Pippen for over 28 years. Fly as well as spin fishing anglers are quite at home here at Rainbow Bay Resort.

At Rainbow Bay Resort we offer a very specialized angling experience.

Alaska FishingOur daily trips, include fly out's in one of our two float planes. These fly out's include day or overnight trips to our king salmon camp on the Nushagak Rver. We also fly out during silver salmon season to one of many coastal rivers. Lastly, our fly out for "monster pike" is an adventure in itself. We also own and operate our own 56' halibut vessel that is perfectly suited for daily as well as overnight stays. If you desire to bring home some nice halibut filets this is something that cannot be missed. Last, but certainly not least our river trips on one of our jet boats for trophy rainbow trout and char on the Iliamna River is something to experience. The river trip itself has breathtaking scenery and our guests have a great chance of seeing brown bear or moose on the river feeding on sockeye salmon, which by the way are with us almost our entire season for your angling pleasure.

Alaska Fishing

Alaska FishingYou will fish the Iliamna /Bristol Bay drainages of Southwest Alaska. This area is, beyond a doubt, the premier Rainbow fishing region of Alaska. Rainbows ranging up to 12 pounds are common. Bristol Bay is also the spawning grounds of all 5 species of Pacific Salmon as well as Arctic Char, Arctic Grayling and Northern Pike. Rainbow Bay Resort is located only 15 miles from the Halibut rich waters of Lower Cook Inlet of the North Pacific where we offer our fisherman the opportunity to fish salt water for this great eating fish.

The majority of our fishing is stream fishing and is accomplished by wading.

Alaska FishingA typical week of fishing at RBR will offer a variety of fishing. You will have the discretion to choose the majority of your daily fishing destinations that are available during your stay. Whether you are an accomplished fly fisherman or a beginner spin fisherman, we have the right trip for you.

The Bristol Bay drainage of Southwest Alaska offers a fantastic variety of sportfishing.  During the season Rainbow Bay Lodge will fish for the following 10 species: Rainbow,  Arctic Char,  Arctic Grayling and Northern Pike. All five species of Salmon i.e. King,   Sockeye,  Pink,  Chum and Silver.  We also offer a Halibut, Ling Cod, and Rock Fish trip on our 56' sport fishing trawler, The Rainbow Warrior.
